Fisipol UGM Held a Meeting with the Parents of the New Students

As part of the student orientation in Universitas Gadjah Mada for 2018/2019 academic year, on Monday (6/8) a meeting for the parents of the new students of FISIPOL UGM was held. Tens of parents of the nation’s best youths have filled the west hallway of FISIPOL since 12.30 p.m.. This was not only attended by the representatives of the Dean and the Senate, but also representatives of each department and majors in FISIPOL UGM. Besides to welcome the new members of the FISPOL UGM family, this event was also held to provide a comprehensive image regarding the management, systems, the academic and non-academic facilities in FISIPOL UGM that will be utilized by the new students throughout their study, as mentioned by the moderator, Acniah Damayanti, S.IP., M.Sc..

After the introduction of the faculty and department staffs, this event was preceded with the explanation regarding the academic system such as the registration procedure, the fulfilment of semester credits, the obligation regarding attendance, remedial rights and thesis proposal was presented by Agustina Kustulasari, S.Pd., M.A.. Furthermore, FISIPOL’s modern service that can be accessed digitally such as SIPS (Sistem Informasi Laporan Studi) for parents to monitor the academic development of their children, OSS (One Stop Services) as a one-door service for student and academic issues for FISIPOL students and FOCUS (FISIPOL Online Courses) that offers study materials that can be accessed online for students to enrich their knowledge beyond the class. Agustina also explained regarding various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that bases on representation, divinity and religious tolerance, talent, profession, area-based and issue-based activities that are available in FISIPOL UGM. In addition, she also presented on various study centres such as CFDS (Centre for Digital Society), YouSure (Youth Studies Centre), ASC (ASEAN Studies Centre), PPKK (Pusat Pengembangan Kapasitas dan Kerjasama) FISIPOL UGM and various study centres in the department level. Other activities such as scholarship applications, international student exchange programs, research grants and internship programs were also explained in this session.

On the question-and-answer session, parents were actively providing questions and responses regarding the academic activities of the students. Questions revolving around international student exchange programs, further studies to the graduate level and non-conventional thesis proposals were some of the issues discussed between parents, faculty staffs and department staffs that attended the event.
