Maintaining The Spirit of Togetherness of Christmas at Fisipol UGM

Yogyakarta, 10 January 2019 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM celebrated Christmas and New Year’s Eve on Monday (10/1) at the West Hall of Fisipol UGM. This event was themed “The Wisdom of Jesus Christ For Us,” and was attended by the faculty members of Fisipol UGM.

This event was started with the lighting of candles, led by the Dean of Fisipol UGM, Dr.Erwan Agus Purwanto,M.Si, and was proceeded by an opening speech by the Head of the Committee. “With the spirit of Christmas, our unity must always be preserved,” as stated by Silverius Djuni Prihatin as the head of this year’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebration committee.

In the opening speech, Dr.Erwan Agus Purwanto, M.Si expressed his gratefulness for all of Fisipol’s achievements in 2018 and his hopes for 2019.

“Hopefully, this year’s Christmas and New Year’s celebration can provide us with blessing, so that Fisipol can always innovate,” Erwan stated. Moreover, he also welcomed the lecturers that have finished their doctorate studies, both in Indonesia and abroad, and also to the young lecturers that have joined Fisipol UGM as of 2019.

This event was led by Father Andreas Setiawan that reflected the spirit of peacefulness in Christmas by advocating togetherness and unity. He stated that “the Christ is a terminology for Christians, but the presence can be felt by anyone through a medium called love, as God has poured rain for both good and bad individuals as a form of unconditional love.”

Following the main event by Father Andreas Setiawan, the participants shook hands with each other to strengthen the ties within Fisipol UGM.

At the break session, the committee has provided various door prizes. Lucky participants took home prizes such as headsets, blenders, magic coms and refrigerators.
