Innovation 4.0

This unit was created as Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science’ response towards information technology and communication advancement in the present moment and in the future. AIU’s objective is to be a unit of work and research that aims to integrate with the current industrial revolution. This body does not only concern itself with technological advancement in the learning process, but also in disrupting the learning process methodology as well as creating a creative and collaborative learning environment.

AIU has various programs aimed to promote innovation in the university area through learning and teaching innovation grant, skills and new teaching methodology training, as well as the creation of digital-based learning tools.

OSS is a one stop service for Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science students and alumni to manage their academic issues. This innovation allows university students and alumni to get various administrative services online without having to come to the faculty’s administration office. The aim of OSS is to ensure that university students and alumni can get a fast and direct online service so that it can be accessed anywhere and anytime.

Study Report Information System (SRIS) for Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science students is a system used to monitor students’ academic activities including students’ attendance according to their class schedule. This system is made specifically for the purpose of allowing students’ parents to monitor their child’s progress in university.

As a form of Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science attention towards last year university students, the faculty allows one full semester for the preparation of their thesis. This one semester thesis program starts with choosing supervisors and forms of thesis, which is continued by creating an online thesis mentoring team. While supervising, professors will also give university students some evaluation. In the middle of the semester, there will be a thesis progress evaluation.

Center for Digital Society (CfDS) is a study center created by Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science. This institution is created on the basis of the development and dynamics of contemporary social politics in the world which is affected by information technology.

FOCUS is created on the vision that education is the right of every citizen. Higher education should not only be enjoyed by those with a status as a university student, but also by everyone who wants to learn. FOCUS offers online open classes by Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science professors. You can enroll in social and political science classes such as one focused on sociological study, social development, communication, public policy, and governance.

C-Hub is a studying ecosystem aimed to bring together several disciplines to collaborate and sharpen creative ideas that can increase society’s living quality. With a transdisciplinary approach, CHub provides a room for younger generations to converse in order to create opportunities out of the challenges and problems that society is facing right now. Those opportunities are developed with a spirit of sociopreneurship that can provide social and economical benefits.

Fisipol develops Fisipmart with the brand “Shopping Ideas and Friends”. Fisipmart is meant to be a public space for people to create innovative ideas, explore new out-of-the-box perspectives, and facilitate the growth of transdisciplinary collaboration in order to create a social project to solve problems in the society. To support those activities, Fisipmart is also equipped with various facilities to fulfill work related needs such as affordable fast food, printing, and photo copy machines.

The Big Data Lab is created upon the fact that the development of information technology has been a part of people’s day to day reality. Right now, the Big Data Lab is still in the development process, especially in the aspect of server and application infrastructure. Right now, the Big Data Lab continues to maintain its focus on human resources development by actively giving big data analysis workshops or training  for Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science academics.

An ecosystem to learn that utilizes digital technology, is accomodative to various learning methods, and is up to date with the industrial revolution 4.0 era is urgently needed by universities to continue to stay relevant in the future. Gadjah Mada University Faculty of Social and Political Science creates an innovation in the form of Digital Library and Co-Working Space that consist of a cafe and co-working space in the first floor, collective project space in the second floor, individual project space and data center in the third floor, as well as an auditorium with the support of sophisticated technological support in the fourth floor.
