Blora, May 23, 2025—UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Science (Fisipol) has successfully organized a closing ceremonial event for the socio–economic empowerment program for village communities around forest areas with special-purpose (KHDTK). It is done through the lens of circular economy at the second location, Mendenrenjo Village, Blora Regency on Friday (23/5). This event also marks the official end of the program that has been ongoing for five months since January 2025.
Arie Sujito, as Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni of UGM, attended the ceremony and mentioned that,”The activities carried out all this time are aimed at increasing the quality of life of communities together. It is hoped that this cooperation between villages and groups is important in reducing the rate of poverty by empowering communities.”
Pertamina Foundation, as a partner in organizing the program, also held hopes that the activities carried out will bring the people of Mendenrejo, Blora Regency, to be more independent and sustainable. “For the program to stay sustainable, students can carry out thematic community service programmes,” Dito explained, as a representative of the Pertamina Foundation.
It is hoped that the end of the empowerment program will be continued further with capacity building for the communities around forest areas with special-purpose (KHDTK). It is done with the aim that the community will be more capable of managing their own resources sustainably, creating employment opportunities, and increasing the level of prosperity collectively through an approach that is environmentally friendly and locally based.
“We have very high hopes that the program will run smoothly. The sheep livestock that was once 42 sheeps now increased to more than 60 sheeps. In the future, this synergy and communication will be maintained and we will ask for your guidance and to monitor the progress of our farmers,” Supari said, as Head of Mendenrejo Village, closing his remarks.
