Yogyakarta, March 1st 2025─Festival Ajisaka, an annual event initiated by the Department of Communication Science students, is back with a theme that carries the spirit of sustainability. This year, the Festival Ajisaka raises the issue of green economy with the title “Gaman Kamulyan: Echoing the Hope of Sustainability”. This theme was chosen as a form of concern for the importance of environmentally sound economic development, especially in the midst of an increasingly worrying environmental crisis.
Responding to issues of air pollution, climate change, waste management, and other natural damage that are rampant as an effect of development, especially in developing countries, it is necessary to capture ideas to overcome this. The Ajisaka 2025 Festival is here to capture these innovative ideas by holding six categories of competitions in the fields of journalism, advertising, media, and public relations.
Through the theme Gaman Kamulyan, which means weapon of prosperity, it is hoped that it will become a weapon to jointly echo the issue of green economy as part of the path to mutual prosperity. “We feel that, as students, we must have an awareness of the importance of sustainability. Especially in the age of the earth that is getting older, we often hear of environmental crises that occur due to economic development that ignores the environment,” said Adelia Christi, Chairperson of the Ajisaka 2025 Festival, in our interview. Through various series of events, this festival aims to raise public awareness, especially the younger generation, about the importance of applying green economy principles in everyday life.
The series of events has started since February 17, 2025 with roadshows to universities and colleges in Indonesia. Along with the roadshow, registration for the 2025 Festival Ajisaka was officially opened with the following timeline:
- Registration and submission of works: March 1, 2025 – April 23, 2025
- Judging of works: April 23, 2025 – May 12, 2025
- Candradimuka: May 24 – May 25, 2025
The Festival Ajisaka will host a series of talks, exhibitions, and panel discussions involving experts in the environmental field at the culmination of the Candradimuka event. This activity aims to increase participants’ understanding and knowledge of the importance of the green economy and how to apply it in everyday life. Thus, Festival Ajisaka 2025 also supports the circular economy and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 12 responsible consumption and production.
