Building Camaraderie through FISIPIT Group Cycling

Amid a busy campus schedule, FISIPIT once again fostered a warm and friendly atmosphere through its Gowes Bareng (Group Cycling) event held on Saturday, June 28, 2025. This regularly organized activity is not only a casual sports gathering but also strengthens relationships among the FISIPOL UGM academic community, including lecturers, administrative staff, students, and retirees.

Embodying the spirit of togetherness and a healthy lifestyle, the cycling group set off from the PPKK FISIPOL UGM courtyard at 6:00 a.m., heading to the residence of one of the staff members. Participants, wearing their distinctive FISIPIT jerseys, enthusiastically enjoyed the route while chatting and sharing stories during the ride.

The event also promotes values aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In particular, SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being is supported through encouraging physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, using bicycles as the main mode of transport contributes to SDG 13: Climate Action, by reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly mobility.

Additionally, by opening participation to a wide range of community members—including lecturers, staff, students, and retirees—the activity reflects the spirit of SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, which emphasizes creating inclusive public spaces and strong social connections within communities.

Through this simple initiative, FISIPIT continues to cultivate a sense of camaraderie, active living, and environmental awareness, reinforcing the campus community’s role as a driver of positive change through small, collective actions.
