Building Kinship and Welcoming the New Management Period, Kafisipolgama Holds Halal bi Halal and National Deliberation

Jakarta, 19 May 2025–Alumni Family of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Gadjah Mada (Keluarga Alumni Fisipol UGM/ Kafisipolgama) held Halal bi Halal as well as Kafisipolgama National Conference (Musyawarah Nasional/ Munas) on Sunday (5/18). The event was held at TVRI Senayan, Jakarta, and invited various parties, ranging from Fisipol alumni across different departments, professions, and generations, to the dean of Fisipol.

Ian Agisti, as the head of the committee, stated that this event combined two main agendas. Halal bi Halal, Kafisipolgama’s annual event that provides a space for people to meet and talk with each other, was combined with the National Conference, which discussed the change in management. “Halal bi Halal is indeed used as a place to meet alumni, while the National Conference aims to process the regeneration of the organization,” she said.

The transition from Halal bi Halal to the National Conference was marked by a friendly and family atmosphere. Ian said that Kafisipolgama has always emphasized kinship, so she and the committee organized an event that fostered a pleasant atmosphere and aimed to revive the campus atmosphere. “We sit a lot on the floor, use bean bags, so yes, let’s go back to the campus, we often sit on the floor,” she said.

Ian even mentioned that the National Conference this time was more crowded than the previous one. She also said that this cross-generational meeting brought new things, as this year marked the first DJ performance by the Fisipol alumni class of 2020. “There is a performance from alumni who have just graduated from the class of 2020 who perform as DJs, and that brings new things because usually there are none, and the seniors also enliven the atmosphere,” she said.

Despite the relaxed ‘halal bi halal’ atmosphere, the National Conference continued to run smoothly and orderly. As a committee member, Ian stated that the most essential aspect of the Kafisipolgama National Conference is that the process is participatory, with no winners or losers, based on the principle of deliberation to reach a consensus and produce a mutually agreed-upon outcome.

Through compromise and a series of lengthy discussions, the National Conference of Kafisipolgama finally reached a consensus. The decision was to elect Pulung Agustanto (Communication Studies, 1990) as General Chairman of Kafisipolgama (Ketua Umum) for the period 2025-2029, and Amalia Susilowati Prabowo (Sociology/Social Development and Welfare, 1987) as Daily Chairman of Kafisipolgama (Ketua Harian) for the same period.

Pulung, as the General Chairman of Kafisipolgama, has a vision to make Kafisipolgama a progressive, collaborative, and impactful alumni network of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM – connecting cross-generational potential for the advancement of alumni and alma mater. Not to be forgotten, Pulung also emphasized that Kafisipolgama emphasizes inclusive values, which means that Kafisipolgama is a forum for all Fisipol UGM graduates, without exception.
