Discussing About New Normal with CfDS in the Difussion #27

Yogyakarta, June 19th 2020—Center for Digital Society (CfDS) Fisipol UGM also discussed about new normal in the Digital Future Discussion #27 on the last Friday (19/6). This discussion which titled as ‘New Normal’ were held on the Zoom Meeting from 03.00 p.m. to 04.30 p.m. In this occasion, CfDS presented two speakers, they were Mira Ardhya Pramastri and Samuel Giovanno Johannes, both of them were the research assistant of CfDS. The discussion was moderated by Aldo Rafi.

The first topic was brought by Mira Ardhya titled as ‘Going Cashless in the New Normal: Challenges for Indonesia’s SMEs’. Mira highlight the decreasing of Indonesia’s GDP and the other complaints about people that had impacted economically. On the other side, COVID-19 cases itself is increasing everyday. New Normal itself gave the possibilities to some economic activities to be opened normally in this pandemic condition, by keep doing the health protocol. The economic activities that were limited in the large-scale social restrictions (Pembatasan Sosial Berskala Besar/PSBB) were opened again in this new normal era. Mira said that digital practice and cashless payment could be the solution. This way could be permanent if the consumers were comfortable. read more

Discussing About Bullying from the Psychological Perspective in the CDC Psychoeducation Live Session

Yogyakarta, June 18th 2020 – Since the stay at home policy were applied, people have much more time to spend on their social media. Unfortunately, the increasing intensity of social media use were also followed by the intensity of cyberbullying. Talking about bullying, it happened since long ago in a traditional way, it was done directly. And this bullying happened in everywhere, even in the campus area. Digital Discussion of CfDS Talked About the Tips to Make CV and Personal Branding

Yogyakarta, June 18th 2020 – Center for Digital Society (CfDS) Fisipol UGM held another Digital Discussion titled as ‘Impactful CV: Creating Impressive Personal Branding’ with Raissa Almira, the Most Outstanding Student of Faculty of Social and Political Science UGM year 2019. This discussion was held through the WhatsApp Group on the last Thursday.

This discussion that started at 07.00 p.m. was began with the opinion from the audience about the importance of personal branding. “One of the most important things of personal branding is building trust. Personal branding could make someone else believe in your skills and something you can do,” Raissa said as the opening. read more

KOMAP UGM Collaborated with Gajahwong School to Discuss About Alternative Education in the Middle of the Pandemic

Yogyakarta, June 18th 2020—Politics and Government Student Corps (Korps Mahasiswa Politik dan Pemerintahan/KOMAP) held an event called Sosmas Ceria as one of their projects. This first Sosmas Ceria presented a speaker from Gajahwong School, Faiz Fakhruddin. It brought a theme to discuss about “Alternative Education in the Middle of the Pandemic”. Faiz gave an illustration about the dynamic conditions that were faced by Gajahwong School in their learning activities in the middle of this pandemic. read more

Oposit #4: Do You Agree With the Prospect of New Normal?

Yogyakarta, June 17th 2020—Center for Digital Society or CfDS Fisipol UGM is back again on Wednesday with their new program called Oposit, an interactive discussion on the topic of the digital world. On the fourth session of Oposit, CfDS brought the topic of ‘new normal’ that the government plans to implement. As we all now, on May 7th, the President Joko Widodo starts to create a new normal policy which regulates the new way of living alongside Covid-19. This policy will be implemented to revive the economy which have been dying. New normal is now a hot topic of discussion in which some people believe that it’s not the right policy seeing that Indonesia haven’t fulfilled the new normal requirement from WHO. One of the key indicator of new normal is a flattening curve of Covid-19 cases. However, in the last few days, Indonesia seems to reach its peak with an addition of 1000 new cases daily. read more

Discussing “Water Governance for the Urban Poor and COVID-19 Crisis: the Case Study of Jakarta” in IIS Cangkir Teh Discussion

Yogyakarta, June 17th 2020—The availability of water, especially clean water, is one of the most important thing in the middle of this pandemic. Clean and healthy living done by washing our hands, cleaning our body, and drinking water, surely involves water. The urgency of the accessibility of clean water increases in places that becomes the center of Covid-19 spread – such as Jakarta, and also for groups that are prone to get Covid-19 – such as the urban poor. Unfortunately, based on the BPS data, only 76,4% of Indonesia’s population have access to proper hand wash equipment that includes soap and clean water. In Jakarta, only two thirds of the population have access or pipe water. To delve into the issue, the Institute of International Studies of Gadjah Mada University’s International Relation Department chose to raise the issue of water governance. read more

Fisipol UGM Starting to Test New Normal Protocols at Campus

Yogyakarta, June 15th 2020 – Gadjah Mada University’s (UGM) Faculty of Social and Political Science (Fisipol) has implemented the remote learning protocol for three months because of the current Covid-19 pandemic. Right now, Fisipol UGM is trying to do a New Normal simulation in Fisipol’s Bulaksumur campus and Fisipol’s Unit II Sekip Campus with strict health protocols.

New normal implementation in Fisipol includes three phases, which are the simulation phase (15 to 28 June 2020), the transition phase (29 to 30 August 2020), and new normal phase (starting from August 31st 2020). In the simulation phase that will be conducted in the next two weeks, several service units in the faculty will operate again. Some of them are the Academic and Students Affairs, Finance, General Equipment, Human Resources, Information Technology, GEO, UP3M, Media, Library and Digilib, SKKK, and Parking. read more

Looking at the BLT-DD Policy and Its Implementation in the Community

Yogyakarta, June 12th 2020 – In responding to the budget reallocation policy that caused by COVID-19, from the Dana Desa allocation (Village Funds Program)  to the Bantuan Langsung Tunai Dana Desa (Direct Cash Assistance of the Village Funds Program) or BLT-DD as the social safety net for the Indonesian people, FISIPOL presented a discussion titled ‘Direct Cash Assistance of the Village Funds Program Policy’ on last Friday through WebEx and YouTube Live.

It presented Nurul Aini and Fina Itriyati, two lecturers of the Department of Sociology who are doing a research about the gap between the policy of BLT-DD and its implementation in the grassroot. It analyzed through three level of evaluations: in a macro level, the central government level, it represented by Bito Wikantosa the Director of Basic Social Services Directorate of Directorate General for Development and Empowerment of Rural Community of the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration. The middle level was represented by Ani Widyani as the Village Head of Sumbermulyo Village, Bambanglipuro, Bantul. In the micro level, it represented by one of the beneficiaries of BLT, Yusuf Murtiono, as the Board of Presidium of Civil Society Formation (FORMASI) of Kebumen Regency. read more

Yogyakarta, June 12th 2020 – Youth Studies Centre (YouSure) FISIPOL UGM held another YouSure Bincang Muda (The Youth Talk) that titled as ‘Pandemic and the Risk of Young Workers’ on Friday (12/6). This discussion event was held through YouTube Live feature and presented two speakers, they were Titis Larasati (a young worker) and Dani Eko Wiyono, S.T., M.T., The Head of Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions of the Yogyakarta (KSBSI DIY). The discussion lasted from 02.30 p.m. to 04.00 p.m. and was moderated by Dana Fahadi from YouSure. read more

Australia Awards Scholarship Sharing Webinar with CDC

Yogyakarta, June 5th 2020 – Career Development Center (CDC) FISIPOL held a webinar titled ‘Australia Awards Scholarship Sharing ‘ on Friday (5/6). The speaker of this session was Matahari Farransahat, the lecturer of Department of Social Development and Welfare FISIPOL UGM and also the awardee of Australia Awards scholarship. This event was moderated by Alfira Nurarifia Handitasari as the Capacity Development Officer of CDC.
