
Yogyakarta, July 11, 2025—The Department of Social Development and Welfare (PSdK), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Gadjah Mada University (FISIPOL UGM), celebrated its 68th anniversary on Thursday (July 10). Since its founding on July 10, 1957, the department has traveled a long path of service, instilling the values of social development and welfare. Historically, the Department of Social Development and Welfare underwent a name change from the Department of Social Affairs through Government Regulation Number 15 of 1957, more precisely, referring to UGM Rector’s Decree Number 100/P/SK/HT/2010.
The anniversary celebration opened with remarks and the cutting of a tumpeng (rice cone) by the Head of the PSdK Department, Dr. Krisdyatmiko, S.Sos., M.Si. Lecturers, educational staff, and other members of the PSdK FISIPOL UGM community also attended the event.
This anniversary provided an opportunity for the department to reflect on the achievements it has achieved over the past 68 years. From its humble beginnings as a sociology department to its current status as a leading institution in social development and welfare, the PSdK Department has made significant progress in research, community service, and education.
Looking ahead, with a strong foundation built over 68 years of dedication to education and social welfare, the department is poised to continue making a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals and communities. Most importantly, it is committed to contributing to the broader goals of sustainable development and social welfare in Indonesia.
