Yogyakarta, July 13th 2024—Fisipol UGM supports the creation of an environment which supports the well-being of its Civitas Academica by providing the Family Wellness service. The Family Wellness service, which was formed from the 2nd of June 2022, is a co-parenting facility that is provided from the faculty for the Civitas Academica of Fisipol UGM who has preschool-age children (kindergarten).
“The daily activities are designed to support the development of children in a holistic manner, as we highlight the physical, mental, emotional, social, and their cognitive aspects,” explained Dini Hariyani, as one of the managers of Family Wellness Fisipol.
The programs that are provided by Family Wellness service are plenty, such as a daycare, halfcare, and occasional drop off programs. Examples of daily activity that can be experienced in the daycare program includes 1) bringing healthy lunchboxes, 2) physical activities, 3) cognitive activities. 4) arts and creativity, 5) social activities, 6) break time, 7) literacy and language development 8) outside visits, and 9) daily interactions and visits by the parents.
Meanwhile, various comfort-supporting facilities that are provided by the Family Wellness Service includes a 1) playroom, 2) classroom, 3) lactation room, 4) food area, 5) sleeping facilities, 6) restrooms and rooms for changing diapers 8) health facilities, 9) equipments and tools for educational, recreational, and arts and craft purposes, 10) educational technology, and 11) areas for parents visitation. Other than that, Fisipol UGM’s Civitas Academica does not need to worry and they can focus on other professional activities because the Family Wellness service is managed by educators with expertise in early childhood education.
“Family Wellness Fisipol also supports the early childhood education programme by using a curriculum that is designed to support cognitive and language development for children in the preschool age. So, the parents can still have a career and work calmly while their children are supported in Family Wellness Fisipol,” stated Dini.
This year, Family Wellness Fisipol is trying to make new breakthroughs by developing 1) an approach to parenting that is more focused towards the development of character in children, 2) partnerships between faculties in order to provide a wider access to early childhood education services, and 3) strengthening the inclusive approach and respecting diversity by supporting the needs of children coming from many different backgrounds. The procurement of Family Wellness Fisipol service is one of the many efforts of Fisipol UGM that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG Goal 3 Good Health and Wellbeing and Goal 4 Quality Education.
