Yogyakarta, 2 Mei 2019–The Indonesian Young Sociopreneurs (Soprema) event was inaugurated once more this year. This event, which is organized by the Youth Studies Centre of Fisipol UGM (YouSure), has been held annually since 2016. The press conference event of Soprema was held on Thursday (2/5) at the second floor of the BB building.
Hempri Suyatna, the Director of Soprema, stated that this year’s edition reflects the strong commitment of Fisipol and YouSure to create new sociopreneurs. This year’s Soprema aims to have participants from 34 provinces, exceeding last year’s Soprema, which was attended by participants that hailed from 31 provinces.
“At the moment, political issues are too dominant in Indonesia. It’s unfortunate, since it means that the creative ideas of the youth are relatively unheard of. Thus, as the only research centre that is dedicated to youth studies in Indonesia, we are committed to provide a platform for the youth to express their ideas,” as stated by Najib Azca, the Director of YouSure.
The Dean of Fisipol, Erwan Agus Purwanto, was also enthusiastic. He conveyed that “In the era of digital disruption, Soprema aims to prepare the youth to face changes in the future by equipping them with sensitivity.” He hoped that Soprema will also act as a platform to develop potential future leaders.
In addition to Soprema, Fisipol will also host several entrepreneurial events this year, such as ASEAN Young Sociopreneur and Fisipol Creative Hub. These young entrepreneurs will hopefully propel Indonesia’s economy in the future. In five to ten years, it is expected that not only Indonesia receives foreign direct investment, but also acts as an investor abroad.
The Rector of UGM, Panut Mulyono, also attended this press conference. He appreciated Fisipol for hosting Soprema, as it is expected to attract participants from all over Indonesia.
The Board of Directors of the Yogyakarta Regional Branch of BRI also expressed its support for Soprema, as it corresponds with BRI’s national program. BRI is committed to be the largest provider of credits for small and medium enterprises. Along with other programs, such as BRIIncubator and Rumah Kreatif BUMN, BRI aims to maximize Indonesia’s demographic bonus.
This year’s Soprema is open for registration until the 30th of August, and is accessible through: http://soprema.fisipol.ugm.ac.id
