Getting to Know CSR Through “AADC: What’s in CSR?”

Yogyakarta, August 27th 2021─Private companies are one of the important actors in the success of the development process. For this reason, the participation of private companies through corporate social responsibility or CSR activities is important to note. In order to introduce CSR more deeply, the Student Family of the Department of Social Development and Welfare or Kapstra held “AADC: What’s in CSR?” on Friday (27/8). In order to provide a wider perspective, this activity also presented two CSR practitioners with different backgrounds, they were Fardhan Ramzy as CSR and Social Impact Senior Associate at Tokopedia, and Galih Prabaningrum as Lecturer for Social Development and Welfare of FISIPOL UGM.

The two materials presented by each speaker─according to their background and expertise─complemented each other. Fardhan, as the first resource person to present his material, provided more material based on his experience of running CSR programs in his place of work. However, Fardhan also did not fail to explain things that are theoretical in nature as an illustration of the foundation that he and his team hold in carrying out these CSR programs.

Complementing Fardhan’s explanation, Galih as the second speaker explained more theoretical matters, to provide a broad picture of the basics of CSR itself. In his presentation, Galih also emphasized the importance of CSR for companies by explaining in more detail the PROPER─Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management─which was developed by the Ministry of Environment.

The AADC event also builds two-way interaction with the participants. Guided by Faizah Layla, a student of the Department of Social and Welfare of class 2020, as a moderator, the participants were given the opportunity to ask questions directly to the two speakers in a question and answer session. Not only that, the participants’ concentration was also tested in a quiz session with the questions taken from the material presented by the two previous speakers. In these two sessions, all participants from various regions in Indonesia actively and enthusiastically responded. After lasting for approximately one and a half hours, the AADC event was closed with a group photo session.
