Yogyakarta, August 6, 2025—The PIONIR SOCIETY 2025 series was officially held today, Wednesday (6/8), at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). With the theme “Derap Bara Arunika”, PIONIR SOCIETY 2025 aims to embody the spirit of students who not only strive to be self-illuminators but also to benefit the community and the surrounding environment. This theme also emphasizes the importance of adaptive, reactive, self-reliant, and inclusive values in facing the challenges of the times.
This annual event serves as a crucial opportunity to introduce new students to the campus environment and instill the core values that will form the foundation for their education at FISIPOL.
“Derap Bara Arunika is meaningful not only to be a light for oneself but also for the world and the surrounding environment through adaptive, reactive, self-reliant, and inclusive values,” said Ririent Wijaya, General Coordinator of PIONIR Society 2025.
In his remarks, Alfath Bagus Panuntun, Coordinator of the Group, also emphasized the importance of students’ role in safeguarding democracy and humanitarian values amidst the democratic decline in Indonesia.
“We at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM should contribute to improving the state of democracy. Campus is not just a place to teach reason and thought, but also to sharpen the values of empathy and morality. We must be a generation of reformers who fight for Indonesia’s future,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, Dean of FISIPOL UGM, emphasized FISIPOL’s commitment to being a campus that is not only a center of knowledge but also a transformative social force.
“UGM’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences is a campus that serves as a center of scientific reference and social transformation. We are committed to fighting for and defending social inclusion, as well as adapting global values such as cosmopolitanism to address the increasingly complex needs of society,” he said.
The opening of PIONIR SOCIETY 2025 marked the beginning of a series of introductory activities that not only introduce the physical face of FISIPOL, but also the spirit, values, and commitment that will be part of the new students’ journey throughout their education at UGM.
