Yogyakarta, December 18th 2023─The synergy and solidarity of the Keluarga Fisipol Gadjah Mada is unquestionable. Even years after graduation, the alumni always take the time to attend every campus occasion. This time, KAGAMA of the Department of Communication Studies ‘98 gathered to reunite in the Reunion of Communication Alumni ‘98 at Digilib Cafe Fisipol UGM on Saturday (16/12).
Reminiscing about your time on campus is one of the most awaited moments during a reunion. Moreover, compared to the current atmosphere, 20 years ago, UGM was certainly different. Oki, as the Chairperson of the Reunion Committee, said he was happy to reunite with his Communication ‘98 friends. “It is great to be together again. I would like to thank my friends for taking the time to attend in the midst of their busy schedules. Hopefully, this event will be a moment to strengthen friendship and recall togetherness during college,” he said.
The series of communication reunion events of the class of ‘98 was not conceptualized in dense discussions, but was presented in a fun and harmonious atmosphere. One of the series was packaged through an event entitled reconnecting. This session contained beautiful memories during college, such as the ups and downs of studying in the communication science department, student activities, and even past romance stories. Not to forget, it was also complemented by moments of sharing and updates on the latest life. The whole series of events invited a variety of unexpected happiness and euphoria.
“Thank you all for coming, because here we are just gathering again. In other words, we reconnect what we’ve been through and share what we’re going through now. So from here we can know each other, and if anyone is in need, we can help each other in the future,” said the Head of the Communication Class of ‘98, Faisol. Not only a session of reminiscing moments in the past, this alumni event also presented solo organ entertainment by performing several songs. While eating food and snacks that were served, Communication ‘98 friends enjoyed the nostalgic songs and talked together.
Although different generations, the culture brought by the alumni and the students of the Department of Communication Studies do not seem to be much different. The moment of reunion is not a moment that burdens the mind, but at the same time as a means to refresh the contents of the mind for a moment by gathering with old friends. The reunion concept was deliberately packaged in a typical youth style, and there was even a quiz session with door prizes to increase enthusiasm. The answers and laughter-inducing quips hinted at the close relationship we still have as KAGAMA.
The reunion is not only a place to strengthen the relationship, but also to reunite alumni who have not met for years. The solidarity between KAGAMA is proof that KAGAMA is a forum that always brings alumni closer to the environment of UGM.
