Marking a new chapter in partnership, Fisipol UGM signed an MoU with Yamanashi Eiwa College Japan

Yogyakarta, 29 Agustus 2025─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yamanashi Eiwa College, Japan, marking a new chapter in their long-standing academic partnership.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Toshiya Tsukamoto, President of Yamanashi Eiwa College, alongside Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, Dean of FISIPOL UGM, as representatives of the two institutions.

Founded in 1889, Yamanashi Eiwa College is a liberal arts institution with a strong tradition of global education, offering programs in psychology, library science, ICT, and global studies. Despite its small size, with around 600 students, the college has an international student body, comprising 13% from Asia, including Indonesia.

The collaboration between Yamanashi Eiwa College and FISIPOL UGM builds on nearly two decades of academic exchange. Since 2006, Professor Tsukamoto of Yamanashi Eiwa College has been working closely with UGM colleagues on disaster management, humanitarian relief, and post-disaster reconstruction. This week, Prof. Tsukamoto is teaching an intensive short course on Management and Humanitarian Actions for FISIPOL students, further strengthening academic ties.

Looking ahead, the partnership will expand to include a joint course program in 2026, enabling students from both institutions to learn together across borders, particularly in the areas of humanitarian studies and global studies.

Representatives from Yamanashi Eiwa College expressed gratitude for the opportunity to deepen cooperation with UGM.

The MoU signing reflects FISIPOL UGM’s commitment to fostering international collaboration in education, research, and capacity building, particularly in addressing humanitarian challenges.
