Yogyakarta, 2 May 2019—In welcoming Ramadan, the Islamic Community of Fisipol (JMF) coordinated with other student clubs to organize the Ramadan in Fisipol (RDF) event. This event was opened by a 1.6 km run on Thursday (2/5) afternoon.
Erwan Agus Purwanto, the Dean of Fisipol UGM, delivered an opening speech at the Sansiro square, which has been decorated with Ramadan-related decorations. “Besides running to prepare our physical resilience for the upcoming Ramadan, we also need to prepare ourselves psychologically,” as stated by Erwan. This year’s RDF is entitled “YUSUF”, with the tagline of “Let’s further synergize our togetherness in Fisipol”.
Bhram Kusuma, the chairman of the organizing committee, and also a student from the Department of Public Policy and Management batch 2018, stressed the importance of togetherness, particularly after the end of the 2019 General Elections.
Afterwards, the Sports Forum of Fisipol (FOF) led the warm-up session. The participants of this event were consisted of lecturers, staffs and students. After all of the participants have gathered at the starting line, the opening bell was rung and the participants started to run immediately afterwards. This year’s RDF Run’s route was Nusantara Street – The Faculty of Forestry – Olahraga Street – Fauna Street – Sosio Yustisia Street. This Year’s RDF Run has also received donations from the participants, which will be allocated for numerous orphanages in Yogyakarta.
After the end of RDF Run, the participants enjoyed a wide variety of snacks, while participating in the door prize distribution session. Fernando Galang, Riza Nur Pratama and Wawan Mas’udi, the Vice-Dean of Fisipol, were the three fastest runners. As a reward, they received merchandises from Fisipol. Later on, RDF Run was closed with a joint prayer by the participants. Hopefully, this year’s Ramadan can cleanse our hearts provide us with self-improvements. RDF 2019, let’s strengthen our togetherness in Fisipol!
