Yogyakarta, August 7, 2025 — The series of events for PIONIR Society FISIPOL UGM 2025 officially concluded with the Consolidation, Action Simulation, and Inauguration. Quoting Tan Malaka, “Idealism is the final luxury possessed by the youth,” this very spirit was instilled through open forums and public orations.
New students were invited to discuss two critical issues in Indonesia’s socio-political landscape: the commercialization of education in state universities and freedom of expression. They were not only encouraged to voice their opinions but also to understand that oration is not merely about speaking loudly—it serves as a medium to deliver sharp, argumentative, and substantive criticism.
The action simulation came to life with a surprise theatrical performance from Teater Selasar. Through an entertaining yet thought-provoking play style, Teater Selasar managed to ignite the enthusiasm of the new students, which was met with loud applause.
Towards the end of the event, the atmosphere became even more festive with the highlight inauguration, cheered on by the spirited Sospoligan crowd, and was joyfully closed with a musical performance from the FISIPOL Music Forum (FMF).
The entire series of activities throughout PIONIR Society was more than just a symbolic welcome for new students. More importantly, FISIPOL hopes this program will serve as the foundation for shaping FISIPOL UGM students into individuals who are courageous in voicing opinions, critical in thinking, open-minded, and concerned with public issues.
