The Enthusiasm of FISIPOL UGM Students for the Free Breakfast Program During the 2025/2026 Midterm Exams

Yogyakarta, April 9, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), has once again presented the “FISIPOL Free Breakfast” program as a form of support for students during the 2025/2026 midterm exams period. The program is held every morning starting at 06:30 AM in the east corridor of FISIPOL UGM, specifically around the Security, Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency, and Environment Office (K5L). This initiative has been running for almost a decade since it was first held in 2017, making it a pioneer in providing free breakfast for students within the academic environment.

Since the early morning, students have been enthusiastically lining up to get the free breakfast. The collection mechanism is also designed to be quite easy, which is by filling out their identity in the form of a name and signature on the attendance sheet. Thus, it is hoped that the students receiving the food will be more evenly distributed because everyone is only allowed to take one portion. Another appeal of this program is the varied food menu that changes daily, preventing students from getting bored with the types of side dishes served. In addition to a hearty meal of rice complemented with nutritious side dishes, the faculty also provides milk as a supplementary intake to boost the students’ energy.

This program brings a positive impact directly felt by the academic community. A student from the Department of Sociology at FISIPOL UGM shared their experience. “Actually, I’m not really the type who likes to eat breakfast, but since there is this free breakfast, it’s pretty good to tide me over before the exam starts. Especially when I’m busy studying for the exam the night before and sometimes forget to eat,” said Yori.

The continuation of this initiative is a tangible manifestation of the faculty’s care in creating an inclusive and supportive campus environment. Through this easily accessible facility, the faculty aims to ensure that no student takes their exams on an empty stomach. The hope is that the fulfilled nutritional intake can keep the students’ physical condition in its prime, enabling them to achieve maximum exam results.
