Yogyakarta, 9 August 2018- The student orientation in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM, PPSMB society, has ended in Thursday (9/7). The series of events in the first day included talk show, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), poster presentations, rally simulation and stage performances. On the second day, PPSMB was held in each department, continued with the exhibition of the faculty’s student extracurricular activities (UKMF), concluded with the inauguration of PPSMB society and the closing of the event.
The UKMF exhibition, which was held in front of BB building, featured 18 student activity units, ranging from arts, culture, religion as well as authorship which demonstrated their respective specialities to attract young Gajah Madas of Fisipol to join through performances or stands, equipped with booths to take pictures in. This year’s exhibition also featured various units of Fisipol such as Yousure, CfDS, CDC and ASC.
After UKMF exhibition ended, the event reached its climax, with the inauguration and closing of PPSMB Society in the form of wall climbing and the lowering of a banner that said “Welcome Gamada Fisipol 2018”. The banner was lowered from the 5th floor of the BB building alongside with confetti and colourful flares while singing Sospoligan march, guided by the members of the Sport Forum of Fisipol (FOF). The sing-along was also filled with various speeches of Fisipol students with the jargon “Fisipol is the tiger of UGM”, which symbolizes that Fisipol must always voice its opinions and unite to be the best.
After speeches and the singing of sospoligan march, the event was continued by stage acts such as mass dangdut by the participants. The Vice Dean of Academic and Student affairs, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi also enlivened the closing ceremony by dancing in the stage along with other Gamadas of Fisipol.
Farhan Razzak, a Gamada from the department of Communications, 2018 felt happy to be a part of the Fisipol family. “The series of events in the past two days was exciting and interesting, even though the bonding wasn’t enough as the event only lasted for two days.” Farhan was also pleased with the atmosphere of Fisipol which supports the freedom of speech and open-mindedness towards various issues.
