Yogyakarta, October 26th 2024─A number of students of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM who received The Indonesian AID Scholarship (TIAS) funded by the Indonesian government shared their impressions and messages regarding this program. Each awardee expressed their gratitude and enthusiasm in studying at the Faculty through the TIAS program. This program is in line with the 4th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on Quality Education.
Matilda Dora, a student from Solomon Islands who is pursuing her Master’s degree in International Relations at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM, felt very grateful for the opportunity offered by the TIAS program. “It is an honor for me to receive the TIAS scholarship to continue my master’s studies at one of the best universities in Indonesia,” said Dora. She is looking forward to an exciting academic experience and enjoying the rich cultural diversity of Yogyakarta’s multicultural society.
For Jefranho da Silva Neves, who is originally from Timor Leste, the scholarship not only recognizes his academic achievements, but also provides an opportunity to pursue his education without having to worry about the cost. “This scholarship program is a race and inspiration for me to make a big impact on the community where I come from,” said the student who is often called Jefry. According to him, the trust given through the TIAS program to students like himself can help create a better future for all.
Just like Jefry, Idelta dos Santos is also a student from Timor Leste studying a Bachelor of Communication Science. “This is a great opportunity for me to be able to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. The knowledge and skills I gained from this program will be used to build a bright future, both for myself and for my home country, Timor Leste,” said Idelta. She hopes that the TIAS program can always provide similar opportunities for the young generation of Timor Leste and other partner countries. This is in line with SDG 17 on Partnerships to Achieve Goals.
