Yogyakarta, September 9th 2025—The Center for Digital Society (CfDS) at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, together with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), officially relaunched the Digital Intelligence Course (MKKD) in 2025 with the theme “Building a Humanistic and Inclusive Digital Ecosystem.” This event also marks the 10th anniversary of CfDS, which carries the theme “A New Era to Rethink Digital.”
MKKD is a digital literacy program that was initiated in 2020 and is open to the public free of charge. To date, the program has reached more than 40,000 participants and features instructors from various sectors, ranging from academia and government to industry. The presence of MKKD reaffirms the commitment of CfDS and Komdigi to building an open, equitable, and human-centered digital ecosystem.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, explained in his keynote speech that CfDS was created in response to the digital revolution. “We do not want digital transformation to create new imperialism and new dependencies,” he said. According to Wawan, MKKD serves to strengthen the human aspect of technological development.
CfDS Executive Secretary Syaifa Tania added that the launch of MKKD in 2025 will be a moment to reflect on CfDS’s 10-year journey. “Through the theme ‘A New Era to Rethink Digital,’ CfDS invites all parties to rethink the relationship between humans, technology, and nature. Only in this way can we realize a digital ecosystem that is humanistic, inclusive, and sustainable,” she explained.
The launch of MKKD was enlivened by a public discussion featuring Janitra Haryanto (Salesforce) and Dr. Suci Lestari Yuana (Lecturer at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada). The discussion highlighted the importance of a human-centric approach in technology development, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI). Janitra emphasized AI design that supports human capabilities (augmenting), while Suci highlighted the challenges of structural bias and the risks of technology capitalization that could affect social justice.
Through MKKD 2025, CfDS Fisipol UGM together with Komdigi reaffirm their important role in overseeing Indonesia’s digital progress. This program not only strengthens public digital literacy but also opens up cross-sector dialogue to ensure that technological innovation is present to improve human welfare. In addition, the publication of this course is a concrete manifestation of Fisipol’s support for Sustainable Development Goal 9 in building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and advancing innovation.
