Soprema 2019 Strengthens UGM’s Role as a Social Entrepreneurship Campus

Yogyakarta, 12 November 2019—Soprema 2019 was officially inaugurated on Tuesday (12/11). Exhibition booths, chairs and a main stage filled the West Hall of Fisipol for this event. Soprema is short for Sociopreneur Muda Indonesia (Young Sociopreneurs of Indonesia). This year, Soprema was held under by the Youth Study Center of Fisipol (YouSure) and PT. Visitama Tujuh Belas. Competitions, seminars, coaching clinics and workshops were part of this event.

Soprema invites those who are aged between 16 and 30 to participate. Soprema 2019 was entitled “Express Your Creative Passions.” Soprema 2019 was platform for the youth to express their creativity. Soprema 2019 was the fourth edition of Soprema.

“Soprema is UGM’s action in order to develop social entrepreneurship in Indonesia,” as stated by Wawan Mas’udi, the Vice Dean of Academics and Student Affairs. Along with the representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia and Bank BRI, Wawan opened Soprema 2019 by hitting a gong in the West Hall of Fisipol on Tuesday (12/11).

In Soprema 2019, 436 teams from 31 provinces of Indonesia have applied to participate. Afterwards, only 30 teams from 13 provinces were selected and able to participate in the incubation process. This incubation session included mentoring sessions, sharing sessions and workshops in the Pentingsari tourist village, Sleman.

After the incubation process, the participants presented their products in front of the judges on Wednesday (13/11). Meanwhile, the awarding night was held on Thursday (14/11) in Fisipol.

In addition, 12 booths and art performances also enlivened Soprema 2019 in the West Hall of Fispol. Hence, Soprema wasn’t just about competition. Soprema also tried to bring joy to everyone in Fisipol. In its essence, Soprema aimed to develop social entrepreneurship among the youth in Indonesia in order to improve the nation’s prosperity.
