Learn to Stay Productive through Creative Content With Taufik Kemal in SmallTalk C-Hub

Yogyakarta, August 21st 2020 – #dirumahaja quarantine time was not someone to stay productive. It also happened to Taufik Kemal, a content creator who shared his story for being productive in creative content in SmallTalk Creative Hub FISIPOL UGM. SmallTalk itself is a weekly discussion that is held by Creative Hub FISIPOL UGM on their Instagram official account @chubfisipolugm. Kemal’s interest to dive into the world of creative content arose from his hobby, that is, watching YouTube’s videos about cinematography. Slow but sure, there was a desire in his heart to not only be a creative content lover, but also to become a maker. He learned by himself, in 2017 Kemal started his journey as a content creator, until he could make neat content.

As a first step—and in the future, according to Kemall—content creators must understand what contents they want to make. There are so many contents that could be processed according to the interests of content creators. When content creators already knew about their interests, the execution would be easier. Kemal also advised that the essence of creating content was not the sophistication of the application, instead we should focus on our contents. That way, content creators could maximize the software that they have. According to Kemal, although simple but still classy, the most important thing is the message that content creators want to convey through their content to be well received by their audience.

Kemal himself used several applications and software on both his computer and cellphone. Each of these applications he adjusted to the needs of the content he will create—whether it’s for photo or video content, whether what needed to be edited is the lighting, or he should make a special design. Usually, applications on the cellphone were used to edit photos and applications on the computer were used to edit videos. However, if he was stuck, he would also use an application on his cellphone to edit videos.

As it turned out, Kemal went through a different creative process for content creation on different platforms—Instagram and Youtube. For Instagram, usually Kemal takes advantage of the moment and sees what is trending, then he will look for references and sources, edit, and then upload them. Meanwhile, for content on Youtube, Kemal has planned and created a list and timeline for the content he will upload there. That could be said, for Youtube, Kemal uses the long-term method.

Other than creating content in the form of photos and videos that he regularly uploads on his Instagram and YouTube accounts, Kemal also often creates content in the form of microblogs and blogs. The difference is, if the blog puts more emphasis on writing, the microblog itself is a collection of writings that are packaged more attractively so that it emphasizes more on its appearance. Usually, the content from the microblog that he uploaded on his Instagram account was a summary of the video material on Youtube.

Not to forget, Kemal also shared about the ups and downs, challenges and pleasures he experienced as a content creator. He also shared his experiences in facing the challenges that had faced him. The entire experience he shared was a two-way dialogue between himself and the SmallTalk moderator—Ulul Azmi, a Talent Engagement of C-Hub. Kemal also answered the questions from SmallTalk viewers in the comments section.

“Sometimes creating content is not easy, trust the process. It’s okay to move slowly, the important thing is to keep progressing,” said Kemal closing SmallTalk at 04.50 p.m. For those who are left behind from the SmallTalk live broadcast session, you can watch the re-uploads on the IGTV C-Hub channel.
