Some of them are: national and international seminars, cross department seminars, several competitions, alumni gathering, and art exhibitions. “We hope that this year’s Dies Natalis can bring together the FISIPOL UGM members. We also hope that this year’s event can be a reminder for Fisipol to stay relevant in the effort to solve the social problem around us,” said Muchtar Habibi, The Head Committee of Dies Natalis FISIPOL UGM.
In his welcoming remarks, Wawan Mas’udi talked about how important it is for FISIPOL UGM as the reference point for various departments in Indonesia in regards to social and political science to create an academic product that can be a shared reference. That product is the State of the Art Series that consists of five books which are Contemporary Communication, About Power, Social Science Perspective in the Digital Era, The Global South, and Analysis of Management and Public Policy Studies in Indonesia. The books consist of at least two main aspects; the development of knowledge until now and the projection of research in the future. This book launch is meant to reiterate the competence and academic backgrounds that exist in Fisipol UGM. “State of the Art FISIPOL UGM series, a compilation of thoughts from various departments that can be a way to open debates in each department and it can be the focus of research for our faculty. Hopefully, this series can strengthen FISIPOL UGM’s position as the center of excellence, in the academic realm or other realm,” he added.
In regards to FISIPOL UGM’s history, through the Government Law no. 30 in 1950, FISIPOL already existed as a separate faculty from the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics. Susetiawan said that the professors taught us that law, economy, and political science are academic areas that will always be integrated. “Next, we need to understand that in order to face the pandemic that has become a major problem in the world, we can’t face it by thinking alone, but by integrating our various knowledge that is fundamental in facing the Covid pandemic and how to solve it,” he said.
