Yogyakarta, October 23rd 2021─Dies Natalis FISIPOL UGM is not just an exclusive celebration for the academic community. More than that, FISIPOL UGM also invited cross batch alumni to celebrate Dies Natalis virtually in the FISIPOL Alumni Meet and Greet held on Saturday (23/10). With the theme of “Creating Meaning Throughout the Time”, this FISIPOL event was hosted by Deby and Faren who took the alumni on a nostalgic road in the virtual gathering.
Before having fun together, Deby and Faren allowed Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., M.P.A., and Setya Utama gave their welcoming remarks. Wawan as the Dean of FISIPOL UGM talked about the progress that FISIPOL UGM have had throughout time, both in the department and faculty area. Meanwhile, Setya as the Head of KAFISPOLGAMA saw this virtual gathering as a ‘warm up’ for the alumni, because KAFISPOLGAMA is actually in the middle of planning an event.
Deby and Faren interacted a lot with the alumni in the event, especially the ones that are in the Zoom Meeting. For example, interaction was done in the doorprize session that was done several times throughout the event through the method of spin the wheel lottery. The committee picked five participants with clothes that matched the color of the lottery result and then Deby as well as Faren invited the participants to give a short remark. Deby and Faren also led the short online discussion about the main theme of this year’s Dies Natalis FISIPOL UGM which is “Job and Inequality in the Middle of the Pandemic” which was held after the screening of alumni’s opinion video about the same topic.
Several other videos were also screened throughout the event, like a nostalgia video about FISIPOL through time and testimonial videos from the alumni. The FISIPOL Music Forum or FPM also enlivened the event by playing songs from the 50s to 2000s era delivered through three sessions with different themes; “Keraton University Nostalgia”, “Romantics of Sekip and Bulaksumur University”, and “Fisipol Now and in the Future”.
The virtual gathering allows the alumni to give their impression and notes in the Jamboard throughout the event. On this occasion, FISIPOL UGMalso fundraised for scholarships towards FISIPOL students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The recording of this event can be seen in the FISIPOL UGM Youtube channel.
