Yogyakarta, December 9th 2021─The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Wawan Mas’udi, signed a cooperation agreement with Bank Mandiri in the “Ceremonial Cooperation of Bank Mandiri with FISIPOL UGM”.
“The campus is undergoing changes so that students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills, not only in the classroom,” said the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM.
Wawan explained that the collaboration with Bank Mandiri would provide students with new work experience and knowledge. He hoped that students can reflect on this knowledge and experience to complete the final project. This collaboration also oversees the learning process of students who will do internships at Mandiri. The Dean said that the internship assessment will not only come from the campus, but also from Bank Mandiri.
“We open the opportunity for 20 students of FISIPOL UGM to do an internship for 3 months at Bank Mandiri,” said Putu Dewi Prasthiani, Senior Vice President of Human Capital Services at PT Bank Mandiri.
In addition to the internship program, this collaboration will also present collaborations for public lectures and virtual development. Putu hopes that these programs can make Bank Mandiri play a role in developing the world of education, especially for students to increase knowledge and work practices.
One of the collaborative programs carried out after the signing of the cooperation was a public lecture entitled “Navigating Your Career”. A lecturer of the Department of Communication Studies (Dikom), of FISIPOL UGM, Dewa Ayu Diah Angendari, guided the public lecture. Meanwhile, Senior Vice President of Human Capital Performance & Remuneration of Bank Mandiri, Sriyani Puspa Kinasih, was the speaker for the public lecture.
“Currently, transformation is the key for companies or individuals to survive,” Sriyani said.
The Dikom alumni, who graduated in 2002, explained that currently students need to prepare new skills. According to Sriyani, the capabilities that need to be prepared include integrity, collaboration, communication, creativity, problem solving, critical thinking, and digital skills. She advised the students not only to study in class, but also to develop themselves outside the classroom to prepare themselves to face very fast changes.
“What shapes you is your habits, your future depends on your habits,” Sriyani said.
Sriyani explained that good learners are those who are willing and able to learn quickly (fast learners), willing and able to learn continuously (continuous learners), and able to provide results from the learning carried out (impactful learners). To be a good learner, Sriyani added, one needs to be humble, open-minded, curious, and likes to explore new things.
