Furthermore, Agus Supriyanto, Head of the Mobility Management Section of the UGM Office of International Affairs, encouraged the awardees to participate actively in campus activities. According to Agus, enriching their experience at UGM and Yogyakarta is important. Nevertheless, Agus reminded the awardees to complete their studies within the stipulated time.
The three representative students of FISIPOL UGM who received the TIAS scholarship are Matilda Radani Dora from the Solomon Islands, Idelta dos Santos, and Jefranho da Silva Neves from Timor Leste. There are 18 students in total: 5 in the Master of International Relations Program, 10 in the Master of Politics and Government program, and 3 in the international Bachelor of Communication Science program.
This semester, the awardees will join the Indonesian Language and Culture Learning Service (INCULS) program to learn the Indonesian language and later get BIPA certification. At the same time, they will also attend classes directly at Fisipol UGM to facilitate adaptation to the new environment.
TIAS is a grant program funded by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkeu RI). Departing from the spirit of the Asia-Africa Conference and South-South Cooperation, this program is a form of diplomacy that strengthens Indonesia’s relations with partner countries. Furthermore, TIAS is also an effort to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 on Quality Education. Currently, 12 universities, including UGM, have become TIAS partners.
