Yogyakarta, July 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada is undergoing a major renovation of Digilib Cafe, a creative space that has been part of the campus ecosystem since its establishment in 2017. The renovation, which began at the end of 2024, has now reached its halfway point, marked by the completion of the new front façade as the first step in the comprehensive transformation of the area.
The next phase will focus on interior design, landscaping of green spaces, and finalizing the cafe’s management system, which is expected to become a new gathering point for students. The revitalization of Digilib Cafe is intended not only as a supporting facility but also as a living space that fosters an inclusive and collaborative academic atmosphere.
With the new design, FISIPOL UGM aims to create an open space where students can study, discuss, and express their creativity in a comfortable, friendly, and green environment. More than just a coffee spot, Digilib Cafe is envisioned as a hub for interaction among students across study programs, strengthening a spirit of collaboration and innovation.
This revitalization effort aligns with UGM’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, by creating a learning environment that encourages active student engagement beyond the classroom. Additionally, the development of green spaces contributes to SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 15: Life on Land, emphasizing the importance of sustainable management of open green areas within campus development.
With positive progress underway, the upgraded Digilib Cafe is expected to soon emerge as an innovative space that brings together ideas, creativity, and the collaborative spirit characteristic of FISIPOL UGM.
