The IKN Expedition Team consists of 12 students from five study programs under the Faculty Student Activity Unit Sentrajana. During this expedition, the team will conduct social research in two villages: Pamaluan and Bumi Harapan, with a focus on understanding and identifying environmental issues arising from the development of the National Capital area on the surrounding community. In addition to social research, the team will also conduct various educational campaigns to raise public awareness and concern for the importance of environmental sustainability.
This activity is accompanied by Arie Ruhyanto, S.I.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., as a supervising lecturer, to ensure that the research and field activities are carried out in accordance with academic standards.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM, Wawan Mas’udi, emphasized that this expedition is part of the students’ learning process. “You’re going there to learn. You’re going there to provide a new perspective on environmental education. Keep in touch while you’re there,” he said.
Through this activity, FISIPOL UGM hopes that students will not only gain field research experience but also be able to actively contribute to strengthening environmental awareness and supporting sustainable development in the IKN region.
