FISIPOL UGM Holds Eid al-Adha 1447 H Qurbani Animal Sacrifice

Yogyakarta, May 29, 2026─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a qurbani (animal sacrifice) event in celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 H. The event, which took place in a solemn yet warm atmosphere, was held on Friday morning (29/5) in the Taman Pintar area of FISIPOL UGM.

The slaughtering procession began exactly at 07:30 WIB. For this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration, FISIPOL UGM sacrificed a total of three animals, consisting of one cow and two goats. The spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) clearly colored the entire series of events. The implementation of the qurbani was directly attended by the staff and educational personnel (tendik) of FISIPOL UGM, who worked together hands-on, starting from site preparation, the meat cutting process, and weighing, to packaging it into distribution bags.

Regarding the distribution target, the committee ensured that the meat allocation was focused within the faculty scope. “The qurbani meat will later be distributed internally within FISIPOL UGM,” stated Wildan, one of the event committee members.

This step is a form of social solidarity among employees, ensuring that staff, educational personnel, and the faculty’s operational support staff can receive the qurbani meat. Indirectly, this distribution mechanism aligns with the principles of equitable food resource distribution and efforts to mutually support welfare within the immediate work environment.

More than just the implementation of religious obligations for Muslims, this animal sacrifice carries a profound moral message. The sacrifice and sincerity that embody the essence of Eid al-Adha are expected to serve as a medium to strengthen the bonds of kinship and foster a sense of togetherness.

With the spirit of mingling and sharing, FISIPOL UGM continuously strives to create a harmonious, humanistic, and prosperous educational environment for its entire academic community. More than just fulfilling religious duties, the qurbani activity within FISIPOL UGM also functions as a space for building relationships (silaturahmi). The interaction and collective voluntary work during the slaughtering process are expected to continuously maintain the unity and cohesiveness of social relationships within the campus environment.
