Yogyakarta, September 16, 2026—The Bachelor’s Program in Public Administration at Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) paid a visit to the Department of Politics and Public Administration at Universitas Gadjah Mada (DPP UGM). The meeting was part of efforts to strengthen the department’s development through the sharing of knowledge and experiences between the two programs.
During the visit, both parties shared knowledge and experiences that are expected to serve as a foundation for the development of their respective programs. Strengthening departmental development was the main focus of the meeting, particularly in terms of program management, institutional governance, and continuous improvement of academic quality. This activity also served as a forum for exchanging information and experiences regarding departmental management and development.
Safa Muzdalifah, Secretary of the Political Science Program at ULM, emphasized the importance of this activity as a learning opportunity for departmental development. “We want to learn a lot about how the Department of Politics and Government at Fisipol UGM has developed, specifically to inform the development of our own department,” she said.
In the context of strengthening departmental development, inter-campus meetings are essential because the management of academic programs extends beyond administrative matters. Departmental development also encompasses designing a curriculum relevant to contemporary needs, enhancing faculty capacity, improving the quality of learning, advancing research and publications, and engaging in community service. These aspects form the foundation for academic programs to produce competent graduates who contribute to society.
For ULM, the visit to the Department of Politics and Government provided an opportunity to learn about best practices in departmental management. The Department of Politics and Government Fisipol UGM is recognized for its experience in building an academic ecosystem, institutional networks, and learning innovations. These best practices are not automatically adopted but can serve as a basis for consideration, to be adapted to the context, needs, and challenges faced by ULM’s Bachelor’s Program in Political Science.
These efforts to strengthen departmental development are also aligned with the values of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Enhancing the quality of education and learning aligns with SDG 4 on Quality Education. Strengthening good, transparent, and accountable institutional governance aligns with SDG 16 on Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Meanwhile, the spirit of sharing knowledge and experiences among universities reflects SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
