Master Programs
As an international university, FISIPOL UGM offers an integrated graduate program. The learning duration of each programs are as follow:
The lectures are conducted by referring to the SKS system (credit system), in which S1 (undergraduate degree) is allotted with a 4-years study period, whereas S2 (master program) is a 2-years study period to complete 45 credits in total. The lectures are conducted in the classroom with tutorials, workshops and seminars, discussions, and outside the classroom (workshops and seminars, discussions) with several collaborative programs involving various stakeholders.
Students are required to complete 39 credits of lectures and 6 credits of thesis to be taken in 4 (four) semesters. The activities carried out in a 3-credits course within a semester entail 16 meetings/lectures including test allocation. Thesis composition is required in the fourth semester.
The S2 (master program) consists of 3 semesters for theories and 1 semester for thesis composition, or 2 semesters for theories and 2 semesters for the thesis, with a total credit of 45 SKS (credit unit). Meanwhile, the S3 (doctoral program) is a 3-year program with 2 semesters of theories.
Duration of study is 4 semesters. The need to complete a total of 45 credits consisting of 36 credits on theories and 9 credits on thesis. Theory is taught through lectures in classes for 3 semesters with a composition of 15 credits allotted for 1stand 2nd semester, 6 credits for the 3rd semester, and another 9 credits for thesis composition.
In the scope of teaching and curriculum, for participants bearing a master's degree (S2) the study load is 40 credits scheduled to be completed in 6 semesters. While the study load of the doctoral program (S3) for non-master’s degree (S2) graduate students is 52 (fifty-two) credits scheduled to be completed in 6 semesters.
Social Development and Welfare
This program is designed to be completed in 3 semesters or 18 months. Two semesters are reserved for gaining a deeper understanding of the realities of social issues, concepts, theories, and paradigms in the field of social and welfare development, while one semester is allotted for guidance and thesis composition, thus giving a total of 45 SKS (credits).
Master of Public Administration
The curriculum for MPA at FISIPOL UGM is implemented by using a SKS system (credit system), in which the number of courses taken during the program amount to 48 credits including thesis.
