Analyzing Contemporary Issues in Management and Public Policy Studies in MKP Book Corner

Yogyakarta, October 13th 2021─The Department of Management and Public Policy Studies is back with the MKP Book Corner to analyse the “Management and Public Policy Studies Studies Analysis in Indonesia: Asserting Identity and Strengthening Relevancy” through three discussion series. After finishing the first two series last week, on Wednesday and Thursday to be exact, the third series was held on Wednesday (13/10) which also closed the whole series of MKP Book Corner. Using the title of  “Contemporary MPP Studies: From Digitalization to Methodology”, the three speakers in the show who were lecturers in the MPP UGM Department talked about the various aspects of digitalization and alternative methods in the management and public policy studies.

Ujang Fahmi, MPA., as the moderator, invited the three speakers to give their material one at a time. The event started with a talk from Dr. Bevaola Kusumasari, M.Si. about “Big Data in Public Management Studies: Methods and Approaches in Decision Making”. Then, it was followed by Yuyun Purbokusumo Drs., M.Si., PhD., with a talk titled “E-Gov, AI, Digital Divide”. The session was closed off with a material titled “Econometrics and Policy Evaluation” from Media Wahyudi Askar., M.Sc., Ph.D.

After the three speakers finished their material, Ujang then allowed Dr. M.R Khairul Muluk, S.Sos., M.Si., a lecturer from the Faculty of Administrative Studies in Brawijaya University, as the analyzer in this session of MKP Book corner to give his analysis on the material brought by the speakers. Even though he gave a perspective that is pretty common, Muluk still quoted several explanations of the speaker as a case study or example in the analysis that he gave. It shows that each material given by the speakers are interconnected even though the topics are different.

“We need to realize that collaboration is not only a must, but a need. In every management and public policy we need a multidisciplinary perspective,” Ujang said to quote what Media said earlier, while closing the third series of MKP Book Corner. The whole series of MKP Book Corner “Management and Public Policy Studies Studies Analysis in Indonesia: Asserting Identity and Strengthening Relevancy”  can be seen through MKP UGM’s Youtube Channel.
