BRISOPREMA #2: Realizing a Sustainability Ecosystem through Sustainable Fashion

Yogyakarta, November 5th 2021─The BRISOPREMA #2 discussion with the title “Sustainable Social Entrepreneurship: Sustainable Fashion as an Innovation for Young Sociopreneurs in the Era of the COVID-19 Pandemic” was held via YouTube Fisipol UGM streaming on Friday (5/11). The BRISOPREMA #2 Talk is one of a series of annual BRISOPREMA FISIPOL UGM events, where the BRISOPREMA #2 Talk was held last month. On this occasion, BRISOPREMA presented a speaker from the side of social entrepreneurs engaged in sustainable fashion, namely Feshia Wijaya the Owner of Kausa Indonesia.

Feshia Wijaya explained that the ideals of sustainability that are now being echoed everywhere, that in achieving sustainability in the future, of course, a joint effort is needed in its realization. Feshia said that there are three main pillars to realize this sustainability, namely People, Planet, and Profit. According to her, the three pillars must go hand in hand so that the concept of sustainability can be realized.

“People are how humans can humanize other humans. Planet means that everything that humans do should not be harmful to the earth. Meanwhile, Profit is a pillar from a business perspective, where the business must have a long-term plan,” she said.

The role of young sociopreneur are needed in implementing the sustainability ecosystem, one of which is sustainable fashion. Feshia discussed thoroughly how to realize sustainable fashion and the role of Kausa Indonesia in supporting the sustainability ecosystem.

In line with this, Kausa Indonesia carries a mission to become a driver of a sustainable lifestyle, nationalist, innovative, and at the forefront of the international market. Kausa Indonesia hopes that the social enterprise they run can be a motivator and encourage many people to adopt a sustainable lifestyle.

“In developing its business, Kausa Indonesia puts forward cultural concepts and also recycling. These two concepts are the unique selling points of Kausa Indonesia,” Feshia said.

The BRISOPREMA Talk #2 ended the series of BRISOPREMA Talk events as a dialogue space for practitioners and the wider community to continue to develop social enterprises together during the pandemic.
