Tens of parents of the nation’s best youths have filled the west hallway of FISIPOL since 12.30 p.m.. This was not only attended by the representatives of the Dean and the Senate, but also representatives of each department and majors in FISIPOL UGM. Yogyakarta, 28 July 2018—the Community Entrepreneurship Academy (AKM) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol), UGM held a National Dialogue as a closing of the cloning stage for its participants. This National Dialogue was open to the public and it was attended by national figures such as the Minister of Manpower, M. Hanif Dhakiri, the Regent of Kulon Progo, Hasto Wardoyo, the Director of Labour Market Information, Roostiawati, the Head of the Yogyakarta Special Province Regional Manpower Office, Andung Prihadi, and the Head of the Lembang Vocational Training Center (BLK), Aan Subhan. The National Dialogue was held at the Mandiri Auditorium in Fisipol, UGM on Saturday (28/7). Carrying the theme “the Role of Sociopreneur in Building National Resilience”, the main objective of the event was to instill positive impacts of the AKM program not only to the participants and target villages, but to the wider public as well. Fisipol Creative Hub held a soft launching of the Community Entrepreneurship Academy (AKM) program. This program focuses on developing rural entrepreneurship, using potential pools of educated university students/graduates while concurrently linking the chain of various stakeholders including universities, business and philanthropy groups, regional and central governments, successful rural sociopreneurs, and also alumni groups. Tuesday (17/7), the Research, Publication, and Community Service Unit (UP3M) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM held a seminar under the topic “Morality of Islam, Democracy, and the Market” at the East Seminar Room, Fisipol UGM. The seminar was carried out to disseminate results of research conducted by Professor Vedi Hadiz, a professor of Asian Studies at Melbourne University, along with Dr. Inaya Rakhmani, a lecturer of Communication study at Universitas Indonesia. Dr. Andi Rahman Alamsyah, a sociologist from Universitas Indonesia was also present in the seminar. As elaborated by the moderator, Dr. M. Najib Azca, a sociologist from UGM, the research focused on the 212 Defend Islam Rally which took place on December 2016 involving thousands of Islamic followers in Indonesia. The object of study was the participants of the Defend Islam Rally who demanded that the then Governor of Jakarta SCR, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), be dismissed from his gubernatorial position and put on trial for committing an act of blasphemy against Islam, which was contained in his speech. read more

Yogyakarta (17/7)- The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM conducted a training on scientific journal writing for its lecturers from the 14^th till the 16^th of July, 2018 in Santika Hotel, Yogyakarta. This training program was held to facilitate lecturers who are currently undertaking the professorship program. “It was, at the start, initiated by Vice Dean II, Mrs. Poppy, who wanted to facilitate lecturers in writing international journal publications. Engaged in education, the Kind of Kindness is a social movement focusing on providing scholarships and guidance to students in Yogyakarta. “At this stage we are still using fixed donations and tentative donations distributed to awardee,” said Risnu. However, he added that in the long-term plan, the Goodness Knot will begin to manage a series of business funding activities.
