Yogyakarta, 12th August 2020—Forum Olahraga Fisipol (FOF) collaborated with Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosiologi (KMS) organized a discussion about Soccer and the Formation of Social Identity on Mass Media. On this opportunity, the event was moderated by Akbar Rizki Madani and brought three speakers, they are Estu Santoso as an editor of Sepakbola Nasional, Dr Hempri Suyatna as a lecturer of Social Development and Welfare of Fisipol UGM, and Tonggos Darurat as a representative of PSS Sleman’s suporter. This Discussion was started online through Google Meet platform and was held at 15.30 WIB.Soccer sport has been the most popular sport from the last decades. Not only because of the match, but also because the fans or usually called supporters may color soccer popular phenomenon. In this term, soccer has been one of new identities that is attached to soccer lovers. According to Hempri Suyatna, the supporter phenomenon of creating a new self identity is caused by the existence of labelling and stigmatization perspective. “Labelling perspective after that may create the supporters’ identity. This identity may appear in public, usually comes with creativity. But on this one, the media has a role in constructing the reality that exists and after that push this supporters’ identity to be recognized” said Hempri as he closed his answer for the first question.

Yogyakarta, August 10th 2020—Fisipol UGM’s Center for Digital Society is back with the 30th Digital Discussion. This discussion was titled “The Story Behind Foodgrammer”. CfDS invited Dadad Sesa — a founder and owner of Javafoodie, as the speaker. The event was held through Whatsapp Group and was moderated by Made Agus Bayu, an event assistant at CfDS.
For starters, Bayu started by asking the participants about things that need to be paid attention to when becoming a food grammer. A lot of answers were received and responded to by Dadad. However, before going into a more in depth explanation, Dadad first talked about his journey in becoming a food grammer.
Yogyakarta, 10 Agustus 2020—Jamaah Muslim Fisipol UGM is back with the second CHANGCIMAN (Changing better while charging iman) on Sunday night (10/8). The event was themed “Self Love VS Insecurity” which was held through the Whatsapp Group platform and was only open for women. Btari Aktrisa Yara, an alumni from UGM Psychology Department as well as a dakwah activist, is a speaker in this discussion. The event started at 8 pm and was moderated by Lina, a PSdK 2018 university student.
After introducing the speaker, the moderator allowed the speaker to start talking about the material. In her elaboration, Btari explained the link between insecurity and self love. However, before going further into the topic, she first talked about the definition of each term. According to her, insecurity is a basic emotion that shapes our self image and our attitude. A survey found that 60% of women have self deprecating thoughts at least every week.
Yogyakarta, 9 August 2020 – Responding to the ongoing online classes, the community service division of Keluarga Mahasiswa Sosiologi collaborated with Social Research Center/SOREC Fisipol UGM in organizing a webinar themed “Online Classes, Is It Effective?”. Three speakers from different fields of expertise delivered their insights: Dr. Muhammad Supraja, S. Sos., S.H., M.Si. as a lecturer in the Department of Sociology Fisipol UGM; Fauzi Ahmad, a volunteer for Yogyakarta Mengajar; and R. Rudi Pramono, S. IP., M. Si. as the head of Seyegan district representing the government. Moderated by Muhammad Ibnu Azzulfa—a student in Department of Sociology UGM—the discussion successfully gathered 160 people on Webex.
Yogyakarta, 9 August 2020—Korps Mahasiswa Politik Pemerintahan/KOMAP FISIPOL UGM worked together with Career Development Center/CDC FISIPOL UGM in organizing a sharing session on mental health during the pandemic. Reni Apriliawati, M. Psi. as a psychologist for CDC delivered insights on “Analyzing Mental Health During the Pandemic”. The discussion aired on @komapugm’s Instagram live at 7 PM, moderated by Risa, a FISIPOL student.
We hardly realized that the pandemic did not only harm physical well-being, but also mental health. The prolonged quarantine stressed people out, as well as created space for anxiety and depression to develop, particularly with the burden of online classes/work. Hence, recognizing indications of mental illnesses and preventing them from expanding were necessary in such a situation.
Yogyakarta, August 9th 2020-In memory of the 75th year since the explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Institute of International Studies—under the Department of International Relations Fisipol UG—organized a series of events titled “The 75th Anniversary of the Atomic Bombing Series”. In its first event, IIS collaborated with ICRC Indonesia in holding a virtually-guided photo exhibition themed “From the Eyes of Hibakujumoku: Living Under the Shadows of Nuclear Weapons”.
Hibakujumoku is a Japanese term used to describe trees which survived the atomic bomb explosion in Hiroshima and Nagasaki seventy-five years ago. The exhibition tried to illustrate the lives in post-explosion Hiroshima and Nagasaki witnessed by hibakujumoku. According to IIS’ official Instagram account, the exhibition also attempted to demonstrate the urgency of ratifying the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapon.
Yogyakarta, August 7th 2020 – “It was natural if our society experienced a culture shock to the IPR concept, because our society was familiar with the concept of communal property, not individualism,”. The communal property keyword concept was enough to be an explanation starter from one of the speakers in this 30th Digital Difussion that was held by Center for Digital Society (CfDS) on Google Meet platform (7/8). It brought a theme: Understanding IPR in the Digital Age. CfDS invited three speakers that was consisted by creative industry players, there were Henricus Pria (Writer and Director of Studio Batu and Rekata Studio) and Bani Nasution (Independent Film Maker of Along The One Way), also from the academics, Laurensia Andrini (the lecturer of Faculty of Law of UGM). The two-hour discussion session was used by the speakers to share the materials related to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) from both theoretical and empirical concepts.
Yogyakarta, August 7th 2020 – Together with PT. YOU, Career Development Center (CDC) Fisipol UGM held a webinar called ‘Unlocking YOU: Unlocking the Potentials and Reinventing Personal Growth with Creativity and Agility in the VUCA Era’ (7/8). PT. YOU is a startup that produces YOUVIT, which is a multivitamin in a gummy form with various fruits flavour. The three speakers from YOU shared tips in looking for work in the VUCA era as well as talking about the experience of working at one of the startups in Indonesia.
Yogyakarta, August 6th 2020—Institute of Governance and Public Affairs of Magister of Public Administration, Fisipol UGM held a webinar called ‘Regional Autonomy and the Rising of Dynastic Politics in Indonesia’ on Zoom Meeting. Apart from discussing dynastic politics and its relation with regional autonomy, which had been widely discussed by people, this webinar also held a book launching with the title Koki Otonomi that written by one of the speaker, Prof. Djohermansyah Djohan, MA—the Professor of Institute Government Of Home Affairs (Institut Pemerintahan Dalam Negeri/IPDN).
Yogyakarta, August 6th 2020 – Creative Hub Fisipol UGM held another #SmallTalk program on Instagram Live on Thursday (6/7). In this sharing session, C-Hub collaborated with Rumah Harmonis (Talent Batch 3 of Creative Hub), as the speaker of this topic which titled as ‘Depressed? Just Confide!’. This event lasted from 04.00 p.m. to 05.00 p.m.
Rumah Harmonis itself was one of the changemakers of Fisipol Creative Hub that was concerned about mental health issues. As a platform that also doubles as a confidant, Rumah Harmonis was a mental health facilitator that could reach all levels of Indonesian people’s economy. Established in 2018, Rumah Harmonis established by four students from the same major which did not have a psychological background, instead they were social and political students, specifically the Department of Social Development and Welfare. Rumah Harmonis first launched in 2019 consisted by 18 members. The reason for Rumah Harmonis establishment was due to the founder’s restlessness, who thought that BPJS still could not yet cover the patients who went to psychologists.
