D’Milk Juara Shared the Inspiring Story of a Young Sociopreneur

Welcoming the main event of Young Sociopreneurs (Soprema) UGM 2018, Soprema Talks (Birema) were held with the title ‘Young Sociopreneurs: The Creations and Innovations of the Nation’s Youths’ on Thursday (18/10).

Afif Daffa Lana Utta, the founder of D’milk Juara, stated that the percentage of milk consumption in Indonesia can be considered as low. “We are far behind the Netherlands, England and even Malaysia. Whereas, milks contain positive effects and are suitable for diet programs,” he stated. In regard to diet, D’milk’s milks contain 5 grams of sugar, far under the allowed minimum level. Thus, this is D’Milk Juara’s social business opportunity.

One of the challenges faced by D’Milk Juara is the approach towards farmers. “In the field, the process is not easy. Starting with casual conversations is a must in order to be accepted by the farmers,” as stated by Daffa during the interview after the event in the Eastern Seminar Room of UGM Central Library.

D’Milk Juara was the champion of the 2017 Soprema, as well as a participant in the 2018 Soprema incubation. Founded in 2016, D’Milk has brought positive and real impacts towards the community. Examples include creating new jobs, buying milks from small farmers with higher prices compared to the standard of the Milk Processing Industry (IPS), as well as educating farmers about good cow management so that the quality of the milks will increase. Through those impacts, D’Milk Juara attempted to improve the level of welfare of the farmers so that they will be able to grow their farms better.

In the closing session, Daffa delivered a message for other sociopreneurs, especially those who are still studying. “As students, we must be critical and smart in detecting problems and solving them,” as Daffa stated. Furthermore, according to him, in conducting sociopreneur activities, work ethics do not only revolve around professionality, but also kinship values. “The last thing is that it’s not about how much we receive, but how much we can give,” as Daffa stated.
