Encouraging Social Entrepreneurs, Fisipol UGM’s Creative Hub Holds Final Talent Pitching Batch 8

Yogyakarta, 22th of October 2024—In order to close the Social Batch 8 of the Business Incubation Program, Fisipol UGM’s Creative Hub organized the Demo Day & Final Talent Pitching Batch. This event was held with an aim to push and encourage social entrepreneurs to develop business ideas. As a learning ecosystem that brings together various disciplines, Fisipol UGM’s Creative Hub made an effort to further elaborate and sharpen creative ideas that can improve society’s quality of life. With a strategic and business-oriented approach, creative ideas from talents not only work as a business but also solve existing social problems.

“So, we are not just planning to build an incubation, but we want to build an ecosystem. It is where societal and economical problems can be solved by the efforts of social entrepreneurs. How do we integrate both the business and social aspects that can give impact, this is what we will be highlighting in the Creative Hub,” explained Massageng Widagdhaprasana, as Chief Executive Officer in his opening speech.

With a transdisciplinary approach, Fisipol’s Creative Hub is present to create opportunities from challenges and problems faced by society today. This opportunity can then be developed through the spirit of social entrepreneurship. Therefore, Fisipol’s Creative Hub presented the Batch 8 of the Talent Pitching Incubator Program.

The Talent Pitching Program is the final series of activities that have been going on for 4 months, from the beginning of May to September 2024. By involving 20 participants who have filed proposals for business ideas, this program has successfully managed to select 5 participants through the incubation process. In this process, participants will be going through various stages, which ranges from mentoring to social entrepreneurship workshops that are intensively packaged in the C-Hub Curriculum.

According to Massageng Widagdhaprasana, during the incubation session, the participants were able to gain a deeper understanding of ideas until it can become a fully fledged product. Other than that, the participants also received knowledge regarding entrepreneurship, management, and social innovation. Until the demo and presentation session, participants were also given the chance to explain the results of the development of their social business ideas in front of the juries so as to receive feedback and inputs regarding the sustainability of their business.

Through the Batch 8 of the Talent Pitching Program, it is hoped that societal problems can be solved through a strategic and business-oriented approach. In addition, this program is also a manifestation of Fisipol UGM’s commitment towards realizing decent employment by developing creativity and innovation of human resources.
