Yogyakarta, October 1st 2021─FISIPOL Crisis Center (FCC) is back with the third FCC Talk on Friday (1/10). FCC Talk is one of the implementations of FCC education and socialization functions in order to prevent sexual violence on campus, especially at FISIPOL UGM. In collaboration with Unala Youth, a youth-friendly health service provider in Yogyakarta, this time the FCC Talk is also an effort to involve various parties in realizing a safe campus. Presenting Putri as a representative from Unala Youth, at this FCC Talk, Puspa and Yoseph from the FCC Education and Socialization Division talked about “Sexual Harassment: How Can We Stop It?” via an Instagram live broadcast session.
The discussion related to the prevention of sexual violence that was presented in the FCC Talk this time was divided into three main parts, namely the topic of discussing the pyramid of sexual violence, active bystander, and a question and answer session. As an opening, Puspa “lured” Putri to explain sexual violence in general first, before going into detail on the discussion about the pyramid of sexual violence. Putri emphasized that the pyramid of sexual violence is important to note considering that there are still many people who do not have sensitivity and take sides with victims of sexual violence. The sexual violence pyramid is very useful in introducing various forms of sexual violence that may be normalized by society without realizing it. The normalization of sexual violence is also inseparable from the ideology or values held by the individual or society concerned.
Next, Yoseph asked Putri to explain further regarding active bystander, a term that Putri had touched on a bit at the beginning of the live broadcast session. Not only related to the definition, but also the principles and steps to become an active bystander, Putri also explained about it.
In her presentation, both about the pyramid of sexual violence, active bystander, or when giving answers in the question-and-answer session, Putri occasionally shared experiences related to the topic being discussed. Putri also often provides comprehensive examples to make it easier for viewers of live broadcast sessions to understand the issues being discussed. A two-way discussion was developed between Puspa and Yoseph with Putri─responding and complementing each other. The rerun of FCC Talk #3 can be watched on the FISIPOL Crisis Center IGTV channel.
