Yogyakarta, November 9th 2020—After having the introductory events last october, Soprema finally officially opened their core events – competitions, incubation, pitching, and virtual expos. Before that, Soprema has already held a launch for people that want to register. Symbolically, the Soprema pening this time is accompanied by the sound of otok-otok.
Through a press conference held in Bumbu Desa, Sagan, Hempri Suyatna as the Head of Event in Soprema 2020 explained that this week Soprema will focus on the core events, especially the competitions and incubations which are held virtually. Aside from competitions and incubations, there will also be a virtual expo held this week. Though the grand final will be held by the end of the week, the event closing and winner announcement will only be held on December 4th.
Hempri explained, in the middle of this pandemic, it turns out there are a lot of people who register to join the event. This is shown through the fact that there are 25 teams that come from various provinces in Indonesia, with the furthest being Papua and West Papua. The quality of the registrant also rises. Not only that, in this year’s Soprema, the theme raised is also related to the pandemic. There is even a registrant who based their business model on the covid-19 pandemic. Najib Azca, Youth Studies Center (YouSure) Director, explained that in this year’s scoring, there is a new aspect that is different from the previous years, that is how the business model made by the registrant can respond to the pandemic situation.
This is also reiterated through Najib statement, that YouSure wants to invite youths to rise in the era of the pandemic with Soprema 2020. Soprema, with the motto “express your creativity”, tries to say that the pandemic can be used by youth to continue creating. Additionally, Hempri said that this Soprema is a chance to improve the learning ecosystem, like the one supported by “merdeka belajar”.
One of Soprema’s main shows is also elaborated during the press conference, which is the virtual expo. Magdalena, the person in contact of the Virtual Expo, said that this year’s virtual expo will take the form of a marketplace that uses Indonesia’s AKM website. In that website there will be the name, location, and business description of the tenants. The visitors of the marketplace who are interested to buy can directly contact the tenant. Additionally, every tenant will also show a video company profile that includes the social issue campaign that their business chooses to highlight. This video will be contested. The website is also device friendly, so it can be accessed through our phone, tablet, or PC.
Other than that, tenants that already registered for the virtual expo can also talk in the IG Live feature to share about how to survive in the midst of the pandemic and about sociopreneurs issue. Magdalena said that this year’s tenant registrant for the virtual expo is even bigger than the offline expo.
In the future, the champions will get a chance for pitching and mentoring. There will also be incubation for alumnus and a packet of gifts for business mentoring. “After considering many factors, we choose to still hold Soprema. This is a form of YouSure’s commitment to never give up and to always support young entrepreneurs,” Nadjib said to reiterate Soprema 2020’s objective.
