Yogyakarta, September 29th 2022—Actress Prilly Latuconsina had the opportunity to teach as a practicing lecturer in the Celebrity Studies course at the Department of Communication Science, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on the last week before UTS (Middle Semester Examination), Thursday (29/9). This is a form of UGM collaboration in the Teaching Practitioner Program organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbudristek RI).
“This is a very extraordinary opportunity as well as our way to introduce that this collaboration is very necessary for lectures, especially in the Department of Communication Science, having a specific interest, namely Media Entertainment and one of them is studying Celebrity Studies,” said Lidwina Mutia Sadasri, one of the lecturer in Celebrity Studies course.
Prilly Latuconsina’s presence in this class aims to provide a more realistic and practical picture of how the process of celebrity and celebrity in Indonesia is. Prilly admitted that she is very happy to be able to share knowledge with students and share behind-the-scenes experiences about how a character goes through the celebrity process or goes through indicators to have celebrity status.
“The class was very fun, the students were also very active in asking questions and focusing on listening to my presentation. In addition to teaching, I also participate in real learning because the students’ questions finally make me learn and open up new perspectives,” he said.
One of the discussions that were brought up was about personal branding, and how a public figure forms an image and acts in front of the public. In addition to teaching theory, Prilly also provides case studies or case factors that occur behind the scenes. Of course, this is in accordance with Prilly Latuconsina’s experience during her career in the entertainment and television world. Then, Prilly invites students to discuss and build new perspectives during the question and answer session.
After this meeting, it was reported that Prilly would return to UGM to teach the same subject in October. The short collaboration in the Teaching Practitioner Program he participated in providing the opportunity for a minimum of four hours or two meetings. Meanwhile, UGM itself this semester has received as many as 74 courses in collaboration with practitioners and invited as many as 91 practitioners throughout Indonesia including Prilly Latuconsina.
