Yogyakarta, October 21st 2020—Soprema Talk titled Sociopreneur Dynamic in the Midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic was held Wednesday, September 21st 2020. This Soprema talk is one part of the Soprema event that is held annually. In 2020, Soprema Talk raised the theme on how to survive in the covid-19 pandemic. To encourage the civil society, especially sociopreneurs to survive in the middle of the pandemic, Soprema Talk invited two speakers which are Retas Aqabah Amjad as the CEO of Shirvano Consulting as well as Paksi Raras as a social activist from Jogja Against Corona.
Ratas Aqabah shared stories and tips done by Shirvano to survive in the pandemic, such as adapting, being willing to learn new technologies, collaborating, and most importantly having self control and personal motivation. Retas also said that a sociopreneur’s journey is never easy. But, we need to be optimistic, give it our best, have a growth mindset, as well as continuously taking actions because if we “take massive action, miracle happens. No action, nothing happen” said Retas.
Taking massive action is also done by Paksi Raras, a social activist in Jogja Against Corona that also has a convection business. Jogja Against Corona was born from the spirit to fight the pandemic together. Paksi opened donations through Jogja Against Corona to provide protective medical equipment for medical workers. The donation received was unbelievable. It did not come from Jogja alone but also from outside the country. That donation was then used to make protective medical equipment by her convection business. Though she didn’t gain a penny from it, at least the business can still run with the help of the donation. Paksi also said that every action aimed for good will be able to be done easily. Therefore, never hesitate to do kind acts.
Soprema Talk is a dialogue room for practitioners as well as civil society to fight together against the pandemic and it will come again in November next year. Not only that, the Soprema 2020 event is still held until December. There are competitions and incubations that can be joined by everyone without paying anything with the chance of gaining a lot of cash prizes. There will also be a virtual expo to make Soprema 2020 more festive. More information can be seen through @soprema_ugm Instagram account.
