Yogyakarta, 4 July 2025 — As internet access becomes increasingly prevalent among children, ensuring a safe digital environment has emerged as an urgent priority. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2024, 35.5 percent of children aged 0–4 years have accessed the internet, indicating that digital exposure now begins at a very early age. While this brings opportunities for learning and development, it also presents serious risks—including exposure to harmful content, cyberbullying, and digital exploitation.

Yogyakarta, June 27, 2025 — A strong commitment to fostering adaptive and visionary governance was once again demonstrated through the implementation of a Strategic Planning Training Program (Diklat Renstra) for regional government agencies of Raja Ampat Regency for the 2025–2029 period. The program was held in Yogyakarta from June 24 to 26, 2025.
The opening ceremony was marked by a warm and collaborative atmosphere, attended by the Vice Regent of Raja Ampat, Drs. Mansyur Syahdan, M.Si.; the Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., MPA, Ph.D.; and the Chair of the Board of Experts of the Center for Capacity Development and Cooperation (PPKK) at FISIPOL UGM, Prof. Gabriel Lele. Participants included representatives from various regional departments within the Raja Ampat government.
Yogyakarta, July 1st 2025─In order to strengthen digital governance and promote cross-sector data interoperability, the Center for Digital Society (CfDS) collaborated with Jogja Smart Province (JSP) to hold a public discussion titled “The Roadmap of SPBE 2025: Strengthening Digital Governance and Data Interoperability.” The discussion features three main speakers: Perwita Sari (Policy Formulation Coordinator for SPBE Implementation, Ministry of PAN-RB), Nanang Ruswianto (Chair of the SPBE Assessment Team at UGM), and Sayuri Egaravanda (JSP Team).
Amid a busy campus schedule, FISIPIT once again fostered a warm and friendly atmosphere through its Gowes Bareng (Group Cycling) event held on Saturday, June 28, 2025. This regularly organized activity is not only a casual sports gathering but also strengthens relationships among the FISIPOL UGM academic community, including lecturers, administrative staff, students, and retirees.
Embodying the spirit of togetherness and a healthy lifestyle, the cycling group set off from the PPKK FISIPOL UGM courtyard at 6:00 a.m., heading to the residence of one of the staff members. Participants, wearing their distinctive FISIPIT jerseys, enthusiastically enjoyed the route while chatting and sharing stories during the ride.
Yogyakarta, 19 June 2025–The history of the development of international relations with the Middle East shows the identity and alignment of Indonesia’s foreign policy. Consistency over the years reflects the strong solidarity of the past and present governments, especially in the Palestinian conflict. Prof. Dr. Dra. Siti Mutiah Setiawati, M.A., Professor of Middle East Geopolitics, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada, raised the issue in her speech on Thursday (19/6).
Yogyakarta, 11 June 2025–Prof. Dr. Phil. Gabriel Lele, S.IP., M.Si, Lecturer of Public Policy and Management, was officially inaugurated as Full Professor of Public Policy Governance on Thursday (5/6). The issue of democracy is one of his concerns about the country’s socio-political conditions. Through his speech, entitled ‘Democracy Beyond Election: Agonistic Public Policy as a Transformation Agenda,’ Gabriel highlighted several trends in the current pattern of democracy, including authoritarianism, populism, and policy uniformity.
Yogyakarta, June 5th 2025 – The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of Universitas Gadjah Mada is committed to the implementation of the Law on Sexual Violence (TPKS). In this mission, Fisipol certainly seeks to raise awareness of the prevention of sexual violence by educating all academicians, namely lecturers, education staff, and students. Carrying out this theme, the Department of Sociology of UGM invited the Commissioner of the National Commission on Violence Against Women and the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) UGM on Thursday (5/6).
Yogyakarta, 4 June 2025 –The Master of MKP FISIPOL UGM organised another Publicness Forum, titled “Collaboration in Creating Safe Spaces: Synergy of NGOs, Government, and Society for the Protection of Victims of Sexual Violence in Jombang”. This forum also involved several relevant stakeholders, including Brigadier General of Police Dr. Nurul Azizah, S.I.K., M.M. (Director of Police PPA-PPO Crime); AKBP. Moh Nur Hidayat S.H., S.I.K., M.M. (Police Chief of Jombang Regency); dr. Pudji Umbaran, M.KP (Head of PPKB-PPPA Office of Jombang Regency); and Ana Abdillah, S.H.I. (Director of the Woman Crisis Center, WCC Jombang). This forum is intended to open a participatory dialogue to find constructive solutions in creating a safe space free from sexual violence.
Yogyakarta, May 26th 2025─Muchtar Habibi, a lecturer from the Department of the Department of Public Policy Management (MKP), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UGM, once again shares his thoughts through his latest scientific publication entitled “Challenging the orthodox policy analysis in Indonesia: a historical materialist policy analysis of Joko Widodo’s agrarian reform and food sovereignty”. This article was published in the reputable journal Critical Policy Studies published by Routledge Taylor & Francis Group.
Getas, May 24th 2025─The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the Directorate of Community Service UGM and Pertamina Foundation, successfully held a Socialization of Reproductive Health and Stunting in Getas Village on Saturday (24/5). In addition to being a collaborative activity of the three parties, this activity also directly involved the Getas Village Posyandu Cadres. This activity was held with the aim of providing insight and basic knowledge to adolescents, pregnant women and Posyandu cadres regarding the importance of reproductive health and stunting prevention.
