“Through the roadshow, we want to “kulanuwun”, greeting friends from various university in Indonesia and introducing the Ajisaka Festival as a collaborative space for creative folks in expressing their care and concern towards the issue that we have raised,” Adelia Christi mentioned in the interview, as the Leader of Ajisaka Festival .

The Ajisaka Roadshow started on the 20th of February at Universitas Teknologi Yogyakarta and UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The roadshow program is planned to be organized frequently until the 24th of March. The roadshow agenda is done offline in campuses at Yogyakarta and Solo, while it will be done online at the other campuses. Yogyakarta, February 23rd 2025─Global Engagement Office of FISIPOL UGM, in collaboration with Singapore Management University (SMU) held a Summer Course program supported by Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TF LEaRN). As this program is a continuation of the previous program, the Winter Course 2024 which was held at the end of 2024. The welcoming event was continued with the presentation of basic public policy by Dr. Rob Manwaring. Dr. Rob explained the important foundations regarding the field of public policy and why the development of this field is very important. According to him, the government carries an important mandate in organizing the livelihood of thousands or even millions of the population. The process of decision-making then has to consider the interests and needs of the people as a whole. Rob then elaborated the two main elements in public policy, that is the tool and instrument of the government. 

“One of the instruments in public policy is the law. The government of Australia, in some cases, used the law as the main instrument, although the people-centered perspective is still used,” Dr. Rob mentioned. He gave several examples in how the government handled the problems of drivers going over the speed limit and Driving Under the Influence (DUI). For some time, Australia experienced a spike in traffic fatalities due to crashes. Responding to this issue, the Australian government then gave out sanctions to drivers who were caught to be under the influence by taking away their drivers license. read more

The agenda of this visit was to discuss the plan of the International Relations Study Program, FISIP, Mulawarman University, which wants to develop an International Class Program. Several things discussed included the history of the establishment of the IR UGM International Undergraduate Program (IUP), the advantages of the IUP IR UGM, and the challenges and opportunities for establishing an international class program. read more

Yogyakarta, January 17, 2025─The Department of International Relations (IR) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada received a visit from H.E. Juan-Pablo Valdes, Political Counselor of the Canadian Embassy in Indonesia. The visit, which took place in the Common Room of DIHI UGM, aimed to explore the social and political dynamics of Indonesia as the host country.

“Our duty is to understand the political and social dynamics of host countries,” said Mr. Valdes.

Yogyakarta, April 2nd 2024—The Ajisaka Festival 2024 was again successfully held on 23-24 March 2024. This annual competition for national students throughout Indonesia, organized by the Department of Communication Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) UGM, raises environmental issues as a main theme. Were 392 participants recorded as members of 151 teams from 38 national universities.

Entering a decade, the 2024 UGM Ajisaka Festival has the theme “Samarthya Bhumi” which means the earth and its strength. In the last 10 years, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) report states that the earth’s temperature has experienced a significant increase in temperature of 1.02 degrees Celsius. Various experts also stated that this increase was caused by many factors, especially climate change. The trigger also comes from various human activities which tend to trap carbon gas in the atmosphere. The impact of rising earth temperatures also threatens the habitats of humans, animals and plants. This issue was deliberately raised to illustrate how the world of communication can become a medium for raising issues that society does not pay enough attention to. read more
