To Promote Service Improvement and Inter-Daycare Collaboration, Family Wellness Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM Conducts Educational Visit to KB/TK Al Biruni Aria Graha

Yogyakarta, July 5, 2025—To continuously improve the quality of childcare and family support services, a team of Family Wellness (FW) educators conducted an educational visit to KB/TK Al Biruni Aria Graha, Bandung, on Saturday (July 5). This activity involved nine Family Wellness educators and aimed to conduct benchmarking, identify best practices, and build professional networks with managers of early childhood education institutions.

Through this activity, Family Wellness (FW) sought to compare the services, facilities, and operational management implemented by other daycares to gain references for developing internal systems that are more adaptive to user needs. This benchmarking process also provided an opportunity to review innovations in curriculum, parenting approaches, and the use of technology that support holistic child development. read more

CfDS Organizes Public Discussion on Child Protection in the Digital Space Through PP TUNAS

Yogyakarta, July 4th 2025—With the increase of internet access by children, safety of digital spaces became a key concern. A 2024 data from BPS shows that 35,5 percent of children aged 0-4 have access to the internet, marking a sign of digital exposure in the early ages. This does not only create opportunities, but also serious challenges, starting from exposure of dangerous content, cyberbullying, as well as other misdeeds like digital exploitation. As a response to these challenges, UGM Centre for Digital Society (CfDS) organized the DIFUSSION #124 discussion session titled “Protecting Digital Space for Kids: Can PP TUNAS become the answer?”. This discussion presents many experts in the field of online child protection, which includes Andy Ardian (Coordinator for Nasional ECPAT Indonesia), Nenden Sekar Arum (Executive Director of SAFENet), and Ayom Mratita Purbandani (Researcher at CfDS UGM), with Nabila Rizkita (Researcher at CfDS UGM) as moderator.  read more

PPKK FISIPOL UGM Holds the 63rd Training on Strategic Planning for Government Institutions

Yogyakarta, July 4, 2025 — The Center for Capacity Development and Cooperation (PPKK) of FISIPOL UGM successfully organized the 63rd Training on Strategic Planning for Government Institutions from July 1–4, 2025. The program brought together participants from various regions, including the Province of East Java, the Province of East Kalimantan, Ketapang Regency, West Kotawaringin Regency, East Kotawaringin Regency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, Musi Banyuasin Regency, Tanimbar Islands Regency, and Tasikmalaya City. read more

CfDS Hosts Public Discussion on Child Protection in the Digital Space Through New Government Regulation

Yogyakarta, 4 July 2025 — As internet access becomes increasingly prevalent among children, ensuring a safe digital environment has emerged as an urgent priority. According to data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2024, 35.5 percent of children aged 0–4 years have accessed the internet, indicating that digital exposure now begins at a very early age. While this brings opportunities for learning and development, it also presents serious risks—including exposure to harmful content, cyberbullying, and digital exploitation. read more

UGM and NUS Examine Water Governance and Urban Settlements in Yogyakarta and Jakarta through the SFI 2025 Program

The Department of Public Policy and Management (DMKP), Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with Residential College 4 (RC4) of the National University of Singapore (NUS), organized the Southeast Asia Friendship Initiative (SFI) 2025. This nine-day program, held from May 17–25, 2025, focused on issues of water governance, climate change, and community empowerment in Indonesian urban areas, particularly in Yogyakarta and Jakarta.

A total of 22 students from NUS, along with student facilitators from DMKP UGM, actively participated in the program. They were guided by faculty members from both institutions, including Dr. Erda Rindrasih, Dr. Ario Wicaksono, Dr. Dede Puji Setiono, and Dr. Navarun Varma from NUS. The program adopted participatory learning methods, such as field observations, stakeholder discussions, and research presentations. read more

Young Researchers of FISIPOL UGM Foster Empathy and Social Awareness Through Gender and Social Justice Research

Research is not merely a process of data collection, but also a meaningful space for learning. This was evident in the fieldwork experience of students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), who joined a research team focusing on women’s empowerment and social justice across various regions in Indonesia. Through direct interaction with women from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds, these young researchers not only sharpened their technical skills but also reflected deeply on their own position, privilege, and social responsibility as academics. read more

Empowering Regional Governance, FISIPOL UGM Facilitates Strategic Planning for Raja Ampat 2025–2029

Yogyakarta, June 27, 2025 — A strong commitment to fostering adaptive and visionary governance was once again demonstrated through the implementation of a Strategic Planning Training Program (Diklat Renstra) for regional government agencies of Raja Ampat Regency for the 2025–2029 period. The program was held in Yogyakarta from June 24 to 26, 2025.

The opening ceremony was marked by a warm and collaborative atmosphere, attended by the Vice Regent of Raja Ampat, Drs. Mansyur Syahdan, M.Si.; the Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., MPA, Ph.D.; and the Chair of the Board of Experts of the Center for Capacity Development and Cooperation (PPKK) at FISIPOL UGM, Prof. Gabriel Lele. Participants included representatives from various regional departments within the Raja Ampat government. read more

FISIPOL UGM Facilitates the Implementation of UM UGM CBT 2025

Yogyakarta, July 2, 2025 — The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the student admission process by serving as one of the official venues for the Universitas Gadjah Mada Entrance Examination (UM UGM) Computer-Based Test (CBT) 2025. The examination took place over four days, from July 2 to 5, 2025.

As one of the designated test centers in Yogyakarta, FISIPOL UGM provided two venues—the Auditorium on the 4th Floor and the East Seminar Room—which were optimally prepared to ensure a smooth testing process. The exam was conducted in two daily sessions: the morning session from 07:30 to 11:45 WIB, and the afternoon session from 13:00 to 17:15 WIB. On Friday, the afternoon session was held from 13:45 to 17:00 WIB. read more

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the national university admissions process by serving as one of the official venues for the 2025 UGM Entrance Examination (UM UGM) Computer-Based Test (CBT). The examination is scheduled to take place over four days, from July 2 to July 5, 2025.

As one of the designated test locations in Yogyakarta, FISIPOL UGM has prepared two exam rooms—the 4th Floor Auditorium and the East Seminar Room—with optimal arrangements to ensure the smooth and orderly execution of the test. The examination is conducted in two sessions daily: the morning session runs from 07:30 to 11:45 WIB, while the afternoon session takes place from 13:00 to 17:15 WIB. On Friday, the afternoon session starts at 13:45 and ends at 17:00 WIB. read more
