Yogyakarta, September 5th 2022—The Faculty of Social and Political Science held a relaunch of the Shared Secretariat and Fisipoint on Monday (5/9). The event was held offline and was attended by the dean’s staff, the department staff, student representatives, as well as Fisipoint’s seller representative. Dr. Wawan Mas’udi as the Dean of Fisipol UGM gave a welcoming remark which was closed with a symbolical potong tumpeng by the audience.
“There is more activity in Fisipol UGM. More students’ forums are emerging. I think that it’s the faculty’s responsibility to accommodate these forums by giving them their own space. That is why we re-opened the shared secretariat.” said Wawan Mas’udi. The creation of the shared secretariat was a product of collaboration with students. Through the reopening of this place, it is hoped that students can develop forums that not only delve into political issues but also financial education, culture, etc.
Other than accommodating students through giving them their own space, a cafeteria is also important to support students’ health. “We think that the cafeteria is not just a cafeteria. The function of universities is to give our best service to students which includes food and drinks. Fisipoint is not just a place to sell, it’s also a place of service,” said Wawan Mas’udi. He also added that the faculty have its own health operational standards as a rule for merchants. This standard guarantees the quality of the food and drinks in Fisipoint.
Wawan added that both of these facilities still need more development in the future. The responsibility to develop is not only held by the faculty, students should also contribute in taking care of and developing existing faculties.
The relaunch of the Shared Secretariat and Fisipoint was warmly welcomed by the attendees and other actors in Fisipol. It is not only the return of campus facilities that can support Fisipol students’ activities, it is also a way to enliven the campus that have stayed dormant throughout the pandemic.
