Allan Porajow, the Fisipol UGM Student Who Represented UNICEF Indonesia in a Conference in New York

Yogyakarta, 27 Agustus 2022—Agustinus Allan Porajow, a student in the Department of Politics and Government of Fisipol UGM, has many achievements in the business plan and innovation area. The title of the best speaker and best team was given to Allan and his team in the business plan and studentpreneur competition held by CIMB Semarang Bank, UGM’s Faculty of Economics and Business, and the Tanoto Foundation.

The business program plan by Allan and team is focused on social business and sustainable education. In the WeAble-Sustainable Work for All IDEAS Indonesia Studentpreneur 2022 event, he managed to create a startup that teaches and gives skill certification for disable people, especially people who are deaf. “Being deaf is actually not a weakness, but a different culture of communication. The difference is that we talk with voices, while they communicate with sign languages,” Allan said. He said that the competitions he joined have given him a lot of lessons and perspective to better himself.

Other than business and innovation events, Allan is also active in an event held by UNICEF. Allan’s active participation in organizations and competitions throughout high school made him a part of UNICEF Indonesia Young Partners with more than 100 other youngsters in Indonesia. People in this community are often asked to become UNICEF’s representative in conferences such as Allan’s recent role as a keynote speaker in Talkmore Indonesia-Indonesia Mental Health Initiatives in Eastern Indonesia Voluntary National Review Clinic 2022 event held by UNICEF New York.

The achievements Allan made can’t exist without his hard work which is inspired by a simple motivation that he always tries to realize in his life. “My motivation is pretty realistic. I want to help as many people as I can in every part of my life, including myself. I learned that a business plan competition is not just a competition. It’s also a way to see how we can bring a positive impact to our society,” Allan said.
