Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM Holds Syawalan 1447 H: Strengthening Human Unity in Facing Poly-Crisis

Yogyakarta, April 2, 2026 ─ The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL) UGM held a Syawalan event today, Thursday (April 2) in the West Corridor of FISIPOL UGM. The gathering, which took place from 10:00 to 12:30 WIB, raised the central theme “Strengthening Human Unity in Facing Poly-Crisis.” The event was attended by the dean’s office, lecturers, educational staff, and staff of FISIPOL UGM, both active and retired. In his remarks, the Dean of FISIPOL UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, stated that in a life full of uncertainty, human bonds, or Ukhuwah Insaniyah, are crucial.

This Syawalan event featured Alissa Wahid, S.Psi., M.Psi. as the main speaker. Through this theme, the event invited all participants to reflect on the importance of fostering human brotherhood and social solidarity in responding to the various multi-dimensional crises (polycrisis) currently sweeping the globe. “Ukhuwah insaniyah is needed to fight and maintain power. This means being just, balanced, and moderate,” he said. This moment also served as a forum for the entire academic community of FISIPOL UGM to forgive each other and strengthen ties in the month of Shawwal.
