Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UGM is Officially Led by the New Dean

Yogyakarta, October 8th 2021─Starting today, the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (Fisipol) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is officially led by the new dean, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP, MPA who serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UGM for the period of 2021 – 2026.

Dr. Wawan together with 18 new deans from all faculties at UGM were inaugurated by the Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., Ph.D., IPU., ASEAN Eng., at the Senate Hall, UGM Hall. “In the hands of all of you, UGM hopes that progress for progress will continue to be achieved and increase so that our contribution to society and the country is greater and increased,” said the Rector of UGM. The Rector also advised the new deans to continue the achievements and progress that had been pioneered by their predecessor deans.

Furthermore, Dr. Wawan received congratulations and messages from the previous Dean of Fisipol, Prof. Erwan Agus Purwanto and Prof. Sunyoto Usman, through a video that was shown at the Auditorium of FISIPOL UGM. The remarks to the new dean were attended by representatives of the senate, lecturers, and staff of Fisipol UGM. Prof. Heru Nugroho, representative of the Senate of Fisipol UGM, said that a number of challenges, both administrative and academic, had to be faced by Dr. Wawan. “I am sure that Mas Wawan as the youngest dean of Fisipol UGM can solve it with the support of various parties,” Prof. Heru said.

Similarly, a lecturer of the Department of Politics and Government, Muhammad Djindan, S.IP., M.Sc. as a representative of the Fisipol lecturer said that the various challenges that faced could be solved by collaboration. “We (Fisipol lecturers) are ready to support and become critical partners of the resulting policies,” Djindan said. The representative of the staff, Paryanto, invites the staff to serve the new Dean of Fisipol sincerely and hopes that Fisipol will be even more victorious in the next five years.

“Hopefully the work programs that were discussed with the staff, lecturers, and students can be carried out well,” Dr. Wawan said. He then represented the Former Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM, Prof. Erwan, who was unable to attend to cut the tumpeng and submit the 2016-2021 dean’s performance report. Dr. Wawan, who was accompanied by the Deputy Dean of Fisipol, Dr. Poppy Sulistyaning Winanti, M.P.P, M.Sc. and Nurhadi, S.Sos., M.Sc. Ph.D, submit the report to Prof. Heru as a representative of the Senate of Fisipol UGM.
