Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM Holds BNSP Certification with GeTI, Dozens of Participants Enthusiastically Join the Training

Yogyakarta, February 23rd 2024─In order to support the empowerment and competency development of the workforce, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM together with Global Edukasi Talenta Incubator (GeTI) held “Certification and Industry Assistance for Young Entrepreneurs” on Friday (23/2). The program is a technical guidance from the training held by GeTI and has been attended by dozens of students and lecturers from various faculties at UGM.

“I would like to thank UGM for supporting this event. This is not just training and exams. Basically the process is like that, but the big goal is that we want to invite all of you to enter an era where the stages that become industry players are accelerating. To become an entrepreneur, from small to big, it’s all in our hands,” said Divera Wicaksono, as GeTI’s Academic, Incubation, & Business Director.

The development of the digital era has a big influence on the world of work. Although many new jobs and professions are opening up, the available labor force is also increasing. According to Divera, the current workforce is not accompanied by the competencies needed by the industry. Therefore, it is important for young people or people with working age to get certification and standardization in improving their competence.

Support was also conveyed by the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM, Dr. Wawan Mas’udi, S.IP., MPA, Ph.D. “Initially, we built this cooperation because we realized that there was a lack of understanding of current industry needs. So this training is a solution related to how this market system works. Hopefully this program will continue to exist to produce a competent workforce according to the field and industry needs. I agree, after this certification, we can really produce entrepreneurs,” said Wawan.

According to Wawan, this opportunity to obtain competency certification not only opens up opportunities for students to get added value as a workforce. But it is also expected that entrepreneurial spirits will emerge who want to build businesses and participate in helping to absorb labor. This urgency is also driven by the demographic bonus in 2045, where Indonesia will experience a period full of challenges, opportunities, and threats.

The GeTI training and certification has been validated by the National Professional Certification Agency (BNSP). Participants who have attended the training and passed the exam will receive a direct certificate that is nationally recognized. The enthusiasm for GeTI training is also supported by other UGM faculties, such as Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Animal Husbandry. Despite having different focus areas and disciplines, the urgency of employment occurs in almost every sector.

“We from Fisipol are very happy to be able to work together with GeTI, and also provide opportunities for other faculties to join. This collaboration is complete, because this program can not only help participants, but also help the growth of MSMEs, help national companies, and of course boost the national economy,” said Wawan. The GeTI training program with Fisipol UGM is also an implementation of the 17th Sustainable Development Goals, namely partnerships to achieve goals.
